New convertible/looking for guidance

For years my wife and I have made it a ritual in the summer to hand wash, dry, and detail the cars on the weekend with wax going on about once a month. With the kids all finally grown, we bought ourselves a toy in the form of a new 2003 Midnight Blue Mazda Miata LS. I'd wanted a convertible for years and this one is beautiful and fun to drive.

Now the question, after lurking around here for a couple of weeks I must sheepishly admit that in spite of cleaning my cars regularly and being proud of them.......I know squat about doing it properly. I've been using Nufinish (gasp) on my vehicles for a couple of years and while it has served me well..........I'd like to step up to the "good stuff"! The Miata already has 5 coats of this on it and while it looks nice.........I'm ready to move on.

I don't have a buffer and really have no problems doing everything by hand..........but I'll certainly buy one if necessary.

I have speculated on applying Klasse AIO followed by a couple of coats of SG and then P21S.........but I haven't bought anything yet since I know just enough to be dangerous! Do I need to strip the existing wax off first?

All suggestions welcomed

No, you don't. AIO will remove everything. You plan sound good. It's a solid routine that many use here. I use AIO/SG topped with Platinum UPP and wax (#26) myself.

The PC will be a handy tool because you have a dark car. The Perfect Shine kit might be what you're looking for. It'll have the stuff you're looking for. Just click the "Shop!" icon up top.

Plenty of other places to get the stuff from, but this is put together in a kit already, and from all reviews, the service is top notch!:up

:welcome :wavey
