This thing is terrific. Everything actually works. :)

ah another intelligent being. I have a White one and I love it , you're right everything just works. So are you a repeat apple user or are you a convert?

This is my first mac.

I can't believe how good the packaged programs are.

I can't believe how well made this thing is. It's just beautiful.

Okay so it runs very hot. And it shows smudges. I can live with that.

Detailbarn, I guess I've been an intelligent being for a long long time now.:D

I've thought that about you for a while , and since you're a mac user I gues it's even more true. :D

About the heat issue , have you updated the software yet. Mine has never run very hot but was very warm now it seems to be better after the update. Also the case acts as a heat sink so as long as it the left side of the bottom case getting hot then all is working properly.

Yeah. I'm running 10.4.7. Still fairly hot. It really is only the left side in the back that is getting hot and not the rest of the computer. I can deal with it.

I let the battery run down overnight to calibrate it. :) Now it's charging and I'm using a PC. I feel like I am back in 1995 with this thing.

Corey,

You will really enjoy the Mac. I've been a fan for two years now-I have an iMac G5.

I'm more productive on a Mac since I don't have to run all sorts of security and maintenance programs.

Congratulations on your purchase. My wife and I are both going to upgrade to the new MacBooks this summer. If you haven't already figured it out, the Mac community is pretty passionate and always willing to help out another Mac user with a problem. So, welcome to the fold :D

I like the shot with the nano. Did you do the back-to-school deal with the iPod rebate?

Also, check out these tutorials on the iLife apps from Apple: http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/

congratulations corey! as my screen name suggests, i love macs. if you've never had contact with a mac before it will be easy to pick up. yes, you are correct, the programs that are included are amazing. i love imovie and idvd. enjoy the purchase. you'll get a kick out of using ichat to video chat with other people. its great!

iPhoto is great. It's super simple yet has a lot of features. I was using Picasa on my PC, which was pretty good too. Actually I'd rate them as equal, but I had to play around with a bunch of different programs to find one that was good. With iLife you get programs that are easy to use and work. Who would have thought.

Whereas on a PC the OS (windows) is just kind of there so that you can find other stuff to make it useful, this computer actually has synergy between the OS and the programs. It's a much better experience. I watched a movie on it tonight. The simple little remote that comes with it can actually do quite a bit. Not just media stuff, either. You can use it perfectly with Keynote to change slides.

Finally something that works.

Corey, I don't know if you have or plan to try out .Mac but it's another excellent offering from Apple. It integrates your backup(automatically done at the interim that you set), mail, web site, blog etc. into one place on their servers that are also redundant. I started when it was free. Some complained when they started to charge, I just paid and kept smiling. Check it out and ask away if you have any questions. Welcome!

I also love my Macs. I switched two years ago and never looked back. Best move I ever made.

Take a look at .Mac service as well. I love it for hosting my web pages. iWeb is pretty darn nice too.

IPhoto, iMovie, iDVD are all excellent. I just put together a looping movie of home pictures with a music background, Ken Burns effects and fancy transitions and burned it in iDVD. I set this up to loop on my plasma HDTV when showing my home and the house sold the next day. The realtor said that this really caught the buyers eye and he sat down and watched it a couple times.

I never give viruses a second thought these days and the Mac does everything I need. I now have an iMac and a PowerBook.

OSX is rock solid and hasn't crashed a single time in two years. This works like I always wish my Dell would.

I'm sure you will love your purchase. Congrats.
