New Car . . .

Hard to belive it, but I am getting another new car. I bought my GTI on April 29, 2002. The car has been in the shop for most of the time that I have had it (over 20 days). So yesterday, I got a call from VW, letting me know that they have decided to give me a new car.

I was a bit surprised, but very happy. Not only that, the individual that I spoke with (VW rep), was very sorry for all that had happened, and that he wanted to make sure that I had a positive experience with VW.

I just wanted to share. I do have a feeling that the letter from the Maryland State's Attorney had some bearing on his decision.

Best regards.

Good job. Congrats! With the prices for new cars nowadays, it's criminal that more dealers don't do this with lemons. They all know the lemons are out there.

Well, dealers don't have much to do with lemon buybacks. They're in a tough position as they have owners screaming at them and the factory playing politics and stonewalling. Many dealers go way beyond the call of duty to help consumers with lemon cars. Buybacks are always a factory decision; sometimes dealers can help but usually you are on your own. Nothing like a letter from a powerful politician to shake things up.
