new car; worried about dealer prep

There is no cure!
hey guys

about to get a new car sometime this or next week. really aiming towards the new altima se-r. only thing that worries me is about the dealer prep. im pretty sure im gonna ask them not to touch the paint or anything upon delivery, but what if the car was prepped prior to that and shows some noticeable to the detailers eye swirls? is there anyway of having the car shipped from the factory. i know a lot of delaers will order u the car u want if they dont have it in stock but what if they have the car, color, and everything but the paint aint right. how good are dealers at getting it for u. do they charge extra? what.

this question sounds kidna dumb but the other day i saw my neighbor bring home a brand new SL600 with rotary swirls and buffer burns. this coming form a mercedes only dealership, u'd think they'd take care of the cars a lil more.

what about the plastic the cars come with? what if i asked to have them still on and everything and that i would remove it on my own. is it hard to remove or special techniques to do so?

No they just peal off, I worked at a ford dealer ship years ago (tech helper) if you speak with the sales man and sales manager and tell him to NOT remove anything no prep what so ever to the exterior they should honor your request. They will still check for proper fluid levels and what not. Actually while I was working there Bob Mayer the channel 6 news guy trailered his mint 97 Mustang Cobra (50 miles it) will the factory wrapping still on and inside the car this was in 2001. So they can do it good luck.

Not a surprise. Do you think the dealership owner would be more likely to pay a professional who wants $25-40 per hour for proper machine buffing or some kid he can "teach" how to do it for $7-8 per hour. They are selling the car not the detail; and the dealers who offer good detailing charge alot for it.
As for the request of leaving the plastic on the dealer will do that for you, when my buddy bought his TSX he requested the plastic be left on and they just kinda gave him a weird look when we drove off with the plastic still on the car.

if they want to sell the car they will most likely honor your request..just tell them ahead of time. When you pick out the car you want, just follow the car or ride in the car where ever it goes. When you go from the lot to the sales office, just make sure no one takes the car anywhere. Main thing, just tell them exactly what you want and if they slip up, go somewhere else or tell them you want to order the car. If you order the car, tell them they need to call you as soon as the car arrives on the truck so you can watch every move the car makes.

Tell the dealer the car is not to be touched in any way. Tell him that this is not a request but a condition of sale. Tell him not to even remove the protective film on the car. Tell him to drop the car off the truck when it arrives and to call you right away. Then you be present during the prep. Have all these terms written into the bill of sale. Also have it written into the bill of sale that if your instructions are not followed to the letter that you will refuse delivery and get a full refund/return of deposit on the vehicle. If they don't agree to the terms than walk.

I worked at a Subaru dealership detailing cars for several months and I wouldn't trust anybody touching my brand new car. Tell them that you want to take the car home with the "tape" on. Tell them that you also want everything to remain wrapped in plastic. We unwrapped everything at the dealership just before the customer took delivery of the car, as our dealership was very high volume. We only used microfiber if the car was black or dark blue, and generally did not do a very thorough or "professional" job. Your car will need a very time intensive detail when you buy it. Tell the dealership that if they want your business, then the car will not be touched. Make this very clear.
