New car to Detail

I got a brand new car today. An '05 Mazda 3, 2.3L 160HP engine, it's a great car. The paint color is Titanium gray metallic and the flake just jumps off the car.

^a hood shot though im not sure how if it shows up well.

The cars paint is in excellent condition, they washed it without telling me but there is not a swirl to be seen. The paint is rough so I am going to clay it.If there aren't any swirls or defects I don't need to use an abrassive right? I was just gonna use Poorboys PwC with maybe EX and natty's on top.Does that sound right or should I do more?

thanks
Katie

Everyone who is getting a new car should clay it first. No questions asked. Then I would use some type of cleaner, for the paint. Fourstar paint cleaner will work well, as well as Poorboys PPP. Then I would top it with UPP or EX-P.
Don't forget to do the wheels the same way, UPP or EX-p will give them shine and protection as well as brake dust repellency.

And hope you going to have a spare MF towel in your car (you know for those emergency situations) :shift

Hope that helps,

Hope that helps,
I already have two, and a little bottle of Spray and wipe. :rofl

thanks for the advice, I think I have to place some big orders on PAC.

BTW,
I like your car. Nice choice of color and style.
Hope you are going to enjoy it.
Have a good day,
and don't forget that PAC has 10% of each order.

That combo is almost perfect except I'd use ex+p since it is a silver car. Don't forget to layer that Natty's. 5 coats will do wonders for your paint and will feel very slick.

Thanks, I really love it.
I have a question about the leather in the car.It has a leather on steering wheel and shifter, should I get some leather products for it? What are the best kind?

Really nice looking car, like that color.
I agree with the others on using EX-P on the lighter color and top with Natty's to make that flake pop.

Good luck with her,

I've had good luck with Megs Gold Class Leather products, but then I haven't tried anything else.

Sweet car and sweeter paint! I would go with the EX-P as well for a finaly sealant. Natty's on that should make the paint explode. I have a little bottle of S&G next to my S&W lol :jump Looks sweet!

Best kind in my book is Natural Look from Poorboys. Works on both vinyl & leather. It cleans and protects.

PS: Dries to the touch - it is an excellent product.

Good things come in surprising ways. I am glad that you got a new car, although I'm sorry that it cost you a car that you were "emotionally bonded" to. Congrats Katie.

Thanks so much guys! I really love the car and I can't wait to post pics after my first full detail on it in a week or two. I'm really glad I got silver because it is helping cure my OCD since the car doesn't even look dirty with a coating of dust like the blue 626 did.Though right now im waiting impatiently for some cable guys to leave so I can move my car back in the driveway to do a QD.:lol

Katieee, how'd you get the pics to load in the thread like above?
I think someone said it in your thread but I put my pics on photobucket.com and then I just used the little img tag to put them in the thread.Photobucket is a great picture host with nearly endless bandwith.

Katiee.. nice to see another mazda 3 owner here... just to warn ya.. the paint we got is super weak.. my car is only 5 months old (Mazda 3 Sport GT - winning blue) .. got a lot of paint chips already... get car bra or hood deflector if possible.. it helps a bit I guess.. :(

I copied and pasted the links, I didn't know anything about any "IMG" tags. Hmmmm.....

Nice car Katie, we have two Mazda 3 similar to yours at work, quite nice - if only both of them would bother to wash the mud away :P.

As for the leather on steering wheel and shifter, I would recommend natural look which I use on my bimmer too cause it's not greasy at all :)
