New Car= New Products... Pls help me choose

Like another poster, I recently picked up a 2011 Subaru STi in plasma blue :cool:(I call it blurple). Love the car and the color, but have decided to buy a Griots DA to clean this thing up right after I clay it. The stealership left their usual marks (minor-mod correction needed).



Since I haven't ever owned a DA machine, I'd like to get some recommendations for products and pads based on my STi (All prvious cars/paints were a lot harder).



I'm torn between going meguiars or menzerna and sealing with BFWD, but can easiy be talked into any and all professional opinoins. So... what do you think??? Thanks!

Have a look into Cquartz. BFWD is awesome is use it myself. If you go that route, consider getting Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze for underneath the BFWD. It really makes the sparkle!

Great choice of product lines, Welcome to Autopia & Congradulations on your new car!

Sounds like the car doesn't need that much correction? Menzerna has an easy, safe and beautiful line of products that work great when heavy cutting power isn't needed(not even thinking PG). I'd go with Menzerna SIP/Meg's MF cutting pad and then Menzerna 85rd on a black lake country flat thin finishing foam pad.
 
Afflicted- Welcome to Autopia! You'll like the Griot's machine, it's great. You might want to remove the bale handle; I like mine best without any handle on it.



I hesitate to differ with David Fermani, since all his recommendations are spot-on. But for the aggressive product, you might want to look into Optimum's Hyper (spray) Compound. It's *incredibly* user-friendly and kinda gentle, more like a "super swirl remover" than a compound IMO. And, heh heh, it was David Fermani who conviced me to try it!



While the BFWD is a good choice, you might also look into FK1000P. I simply love the stuff, in great part because of how well/easily it cleans up at each wash.
 
Oh Yeah; OHC is a good one too and has much better cutthan SIP. You can go right to Menzerna 85rd right after it. I also can't stand that bail handle. Actually makes the buffer less stable for me.
 
Hope you are enjoying the car =). Not to forum whore it out, but you may want to check out clubwrx.net for a subaru specific forum for anything other than detailing. The guys there are spot on and very credible.



I had a question I wanted to shoot you. The paint on mine almost looks like a ton of very tiny (1/16") 'facets'. Almost like somebody took and made a clay car, and then shaped it by pressing a round pencil eraser straight into it all over it. Very difficult to describe. The paint actually feels smooth (to my touch at least), but it still has that 'pebbly' look. Is yours the same way?
