Just Purchased a new Ford 500 Limited White. Looking for help as to the time frame I shoud be using these applications/products on the new car:

Polish

Wax

CG - Extreme Top Cost Sealant+ 3x Carnauba

Hi-Temps Light Cut

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if I understand your question right, but are you looking for the order of application?

If so, it'd be:

Hi Temp Light Cut

Sealant

Carnauba

If you're asking how long you should wait before using those,

Use the Light Cut if you have any swirls you want to get rid of (you may not even be able to see them anyway on white paint). Use the sealant and carnauba right away. You don't need to wait at all to wax a new car.

Thanks for your reply. I was looking for time frame after the purchase.

Since you brought up order of application I might as well ask. I am a rookie but was thinking,

1. Hi-Temps Light Cut

2. Meguiars Step 2 Polish

3. Carnuba Wax

4. CG - Extreme Top Cost Sealant+ 3x Carnauba

Is this correct?

Thanks again.

No, sealants go before carnaubas. Sealants on top of waxes don't work properly. I did it once on accident (my first time) and everything was screwed up. It wasn't slick, beading was irregular...

Take my word for it.

THANKS, for setting me straight.

Is it advised to use a polish (Meguiars Step 2 Polish) and/or a Light Cut Cleaner before everytime I wax?

A polish is really only necessary if you have swirl marks to get rid of. A paint cleaner is used to remove old waxes/sealants, or to remove oxidation/stains in the paint. You don't need to use a paint cleaner or a polish before each time you wax. I do the whole wash/clay/polish/cleaner/sealant/wax process twice a year, sometimes more if I have lots of new stuff to try out. Generally I wax my car every 3-4 weeks, and only use a paint cleaner when I'm doing a full detail.

Note that the Meguiar's Deep Crystal Step #2 "polish" is nonabrasive. It's what many of us would call a "glaze".

You shouldn't need to use the Light Cut very often as long as you're washing the car right. Only use it when you have marring to ger rid of, as White95max said. You might want to pick up something milder for more frequent use, perhaps something like Meg's #80.

To answer your first question, assuming you are asking when you can detail your new car, you can polish, seal and wax the day you get it. The paint on new cars are not fresh paint. I think that answers your first question, if I took it right.

I also got the Ford 500 limited(black). Sweet ride. Anyway, I waxed mine right away, 3rd day i took it home. Since there were no swirls etc. I just waxed it.(didn't have clay at the time) I agree with Pontman43, the day you get it you can wax it. I'm just like you, ya don't want to mess up a new car, but I figure if you don't take care of it right away, its going to damage the paint worse.

Yup, you spent all the money on a new car...protect it ASAP so it stays looking new for years and years and years and years and years and year....

Nice choice of car. I have one, too. It's a company car and I still wash it at least weekly and take care of it like it's mine. Here's a shot after the Zaino treatment and with 11,000 miles
