Ok guys so I got a new 2007 Honda Fit its Vivid Blue Pearl..its sorta like a bright blue color not so much midnight but not sky blue either. They polished it and obviously didn't have it absolutely clean and put some spider scratches/swirl marks real light to medium I'd say. i have a porter cable..I have blue, green, orange, yellow pads, SSR1, Klasse, and Ultimate paint protection sealent..and somewhere I think I have some SSR2....any ideas on where I should start and what I should do, or order/otc before attempting this..I've used the porter cable on my 06 Scion that had no swirls ever because I never had them detail it and I only touched the car so this is the first time I'm having to deal with something like this and this color could really get messed up fast if I do something dumb. Any help and dumb noob step by step instructions would be great :)

Thanks, J

For starters, pictures would be helpful for specific questions. You can also find a lot of info if you do a basic search or even just browse a little on this forum.

I have of course read other topics but this is a brand new car brand new paint and I want to make sure I do the steps in the right order as this is as fresh of a chance as I'm going to get :)

wash, polish with a light polish and polishing pad....if that doesnt work out for removal of scratches, then step up the polish on the same pad, if that doesnt work, then step up the pad and same polish, if that doesnt work, then....you get the point...start as light as possible! then seal it with a sealant, then get a good carnauba on there and look at it shine....

I have pads from excel..blue, green, orange, yellow, and SSR1 and 2...any combo I should try first? and then next? after that I'm stopping :)

I'd take it back to the stealership. Tell them how unhappy you are and that you want a pro to do it. They pay. Tell us where you are and if lucky, maybe an Autopian is close by. m2c

I'm near Pensacola FL, and I have used a PC for about a year now and I'm not scared of it I just haven't used it for something like this (and its not terrible they are light swirls light spider scratches) so I felt like I could give it a shot, and I don't trust any of the local people around here or the dealership wrecking it even more Id rather just do it my own and be pissed at myself then go ape ish on them.

If you do it yourself and the paint is anything like this suv's you can make it perfect with ssr2.5 and a green or orange propel pad.

I am not questioning your ability - it's the pc that may not be powerful enough.

Do you have any pictures?

not sure about ssr2, but I never tried it with an orange pad. Use very little ssr2 don't rush. If you want to make your paint stand out, follow it with a polishing pad and ssr 2 followed by ssr 1, Aio and finally your sealant. That should look awesome. look what poorboys polishes can do

Thanks for the helpful info, since you posted that pic and that guy was able to fix it with 2.5 and orange and mine is NO WHERE near that I think orange..maybe even green and 2.0 should be able to fix the damage...and usually I use 1.0 ...klasse aio...then UPP x2 on my silver car and sometimes hit with with natty blue and it looks greattt, but she didnt have any swirls because I always took care of it from Mile 1

Also used clay, ssr 1, klasse, upp on this black ride for a buddy...excuse my buddy but hey it shows off the shine...its a black car btw :)

I'd go for the SSR1/white, Honda paint is notoriously soft and I've been able to correct some pretty decent marring in it with Menzerna FPII. If they don't all come out, try SSR2/white followed by SSR1/blue.

I'm using propel 4inch turbo pads..I have Blue finishing, Green Light cut, Orange medium cut, and Yellow heavy cut. I can't find my SSR2 anywhere...so I have SSR1..I have used it with the green on a Ford and an acura and it didn't do jack...I was thinking maybe Orange ans SSR1, then Green and SSR1..then klasse, and UPP.. OR I was thinking about ordering the swirl buster and swirl polish that sonus just came out with, I just don't know if I want to wait or try the SSR1...what are yalls thoughts? The swirls are pretty light, some minor hologramming, I mean its been washed and buffed one time from the dealer so its not the worst its just not the best either :(

Or can you recommend something I can get over the counter besides my SSR1 that might be a lil tougher?
