New car clay?

Got the Hang of it Now
Would it even be useful to clay a brand new car? I just got my Scion, and would like to clay it just so I have crossed all my t's and dotted all my i's, but Im not going to do it if its not going to be beneficial. Anyone ever clayed a brand new car?

Yes, you will want to clay the vehicle. You will be suprised how much will be lifted out of your "new" car. After that, if there is any defects, go on and polish, seal, and wax! Don't forget to post pics when you do the full detail.

good deal. i polished and waxed last night, but was a bit worried to clay. Im gonna grab some clay tommorow since it rained real hard today and all my work was for nothing. Whats a good OTC clay to buy?

I'm not in the detailing business, but I clay all our new cars & trucks whether its our Toyota Matrix, Accura NSX, Ford Excursion, F250, F350, etc. New cars can be exposed to various types of pollution, dust from transportation (railroad dust, brake dust, etc), bird droppings, bugs, etc. Claying the car will give you a good clean base to work from.

Here's something to read...

Well, here I have Mothers Clay Bar, Meguiars Clay, and Clay Magic. I like the Mothers clay bar, works great, not hard to knead but don't like the 19.00 price tag these stores put on it. Meguiars Clay bar in my opinion is horrible. Way too hard to knead. That's the only problem I have with it. Works great, just way too hard to knead. I found it for $8.00 at K-Mart. Clay Magic. They are $10.00 here, haven't tried them yet but sure will. Seems like they are pretty popular and the price isn't bad either. Just hope they aren't as hard to knead as the Meguiars Clay.
