2004 black Maxima.What should I do?
wash
clay
wash again
PB Pro Polish or SSR1
EX-P
I have a PC but I am really worried about marring and swirl marks. Also what to dry with?Micro fiber WW?

With a new car why are you being so agressive?how about this
wash
clay
wash again
wax(a wax with no cleaners)a carnuba product
wax the next 2 times you wash your car
that should work and give you a head start.

If it is a brand new car without swirls or just minor swilrs I would just wash it, go over with PB Polish with carnuba, and top that off with Natty's followed by EX-P. PB new car wash is an excellent choice to wash with as well. I use a WW MF to dry.

I have done it both ways. I can't tell the difference. I know that carnuba will fill in minor inperfections so using that first might help. I have a hard time telling one way from another.

I won't exactly call SSR1 aggressive, but that's JMO. I say your original plan sounds fine if the car has a couple minor swirls. If the car is *perfect*, then yeah no need for SSR1.
Also, I do not see a need to wash after claying.
IMO

I always wash after claying or at least go over the car with Spray and Wipe and clean MF because the clay could always pull up some embedded dirt and leave it on the surface. I think hitting it with Spray and Wipe should be fine though.

Keep in mind that unless the dealership has done something to your paint, it is as flawless as it will ever be. (Orange peel excluded)
Keeping that in mind, just do what is needed.
For example ... if the entire vehicle doesn't need claying ... don't do it. I have seen some marring caused by clay. You only need to do the areas that feel rough.
When I took delivery of a new Lexus this spring, I clayed the front of the hood and tops of the fenders because that was all that was needed.
I then applied AIO and 3 coats of UPP.
I bought a new sheepskin wash mit and between washings used Poorboys S&W.
9 months later (after claying and another application of AIO and UPP) the paint looks as good as when it was new.
I am a believer in only doing what is needed to achieve and then protect the shine.
Just my .02

Always a good idea to start with the least abrasive product / least aggressive process when you're starting out.

No sense creating problems where they don't already exist.

wash with good quality shampoo (NXT) & wool mitt ($5 at Wal-Mart)
clay only when necessary / where necessary, use the car wash soapy, sudsy water as a claying lube

dry with a WW towel

normally you would polish at this point but it may not be necessary

wax / seal with your choice of products

I've read that EX-P looks better on light colored metallics & EX looks better on darker colors

top with a good quality carnauba like Natty's, p21s, s100, LS & others

It's about 90% process & 10% product ... enjoy yourself
