So I was chosen to do some testing and reviewing of some of the new BF products to be released shortly. Todays venture is going to be the new APC.
I generally use a specific cleaner developed for tires and white walls and then a second product for wheels also designed specifically for brake dust ect because I find most APC's just don't have the cleaning power I am looking for.
So I got talking to Dave and he said he uses APC's @ 2:1 or 3:1 for wheels and tires so I figured that would be a good point to start to really see if this APC has any muscle. BF claims that this is safe for virtually any surface which puts it in the SUPER APC catagory with OPC.
So to get down to what were after I decided to use it on my truck @ 3:1 as the tires and wheels were pretty nasty.
My process was rather simple. Hose off loose debris and soak liberally with BF APC. I used a stiff bristled brush for the tires. Barrels got cleaned with a Daytona Wheel Brush and the face of the wheels with a Mother's Wheel Brush.
Results:
I was shocked at how well it cleaned at 3:1. It took no more elbow grease than any other product I use. To make sure the tire was clean, I ran my hand across the tire and the results came up clean.
Conclusion: I think this is a very strong APC that is still safe for most surfaces. I did play around with a few tar specs on my truck and it removed them with relatitive ease still at the 3:1 dilution. One thing I found really pleasing was how white the letters were after cleaning. Seem other APC's I have tried may get the tire clean but always leave the letters yellowed. This is a foaming APC if that is a concern to you either way. A rather pleasant citrus smell I detect....similar to lemon Pledge that isn't overpowering in any way.
I think this is a great APC and certainly on par with OPC. I feel the price of this will dictate exactly how it is treated.
Thanks for looking, Jim
