New and Thanks for Zaino

I am new to the forums and happy I found this place. I will tell you my detailing story.

My last car was a white 320 Benz, I always used Xymol products and I was always happy. Little did I know about swirl marks!

I traded for a new 430 Benz Sport in Dark Blue, great car, but I was in for a surprise. I did my usual routine with Zymol HD cleanse then Xymol wax. I noticed the swirl marks, and decided to take it into the MB dealer. Actually I went to the new vehicle prep guys, they said they could take care of it. Funny thing, they did, for a few days anyway. They said they polished and applied a glaze. That's when I learned about glazes. Filled in the swirl marks until I washed it, then they all came back!

So Iwanted to do something about all the swirl marks. I know they were on the car when new, and that I added many! Thanks to the internet, I figured out what to do from autopia.

Based on this forum, I decided to try Zaino, I can not say how well this product has worked. I started with another clean up using Xymol HD cleanse, then a Dawn wash. I have put on 5 coats of Z5 (first coat Z1) and 2 coats of Z2. I used Z6 and ZFX on the Z2 coats.

The way this car looks is amazing, several things really stand out. The shine is real deep. Swirl marks are very hard to see, you have to look hard and be in very bright light. This is a dramatic change, before I could see the swirl marks from across the parking lot. I am really amazed.

The other interesting result is how little dust has accululated in the 4 days since I finished with Z2. This is a claim that Zaino makes for Z6, I agree.

A few comments on Zymol, I have used many of their products over the last 7 years. I think they have changed performance considerably, and not for the better. I still use their leather treatment, and the stuff they use for weather stripping, but that is all. Maybe I became more picky, maybe it 's the diffgerence between carnuba and polymer coatings, but I am going to stick with Zaino.

So thanks for all of the groups knowledge, my top two tips from the forums are:

1. Sheeting water for drying (wow)

2. Zaino and the steps needed.

Welcome to the forum. :bounce

Zaino on a well prepped polished finish with a combination of Z2 and Z5 is as the deep a shine on a dark color you can get this side of 25 coats of hand rubbed lacquer. After several coats the paint gives the appearance of liquid glass. The best part is that it will last beyond the first hot day. Wait to you wash with Z7. The shine actually deepens and improves. :xyxthumbs

blkZ28, I agree. Z-7 is an amazing product. I've also been very impressed with how well Z-6 works on a Z'd car. As long as you wash with Z-7 and do a quick Z-6 application afterwards, there's no telling how long a few layers of Zaino will last. I just did a Z-6 application on my silver Zaino'd Civic and the surface felt like it had a fresh coat of Z on it...and it's been almost 4 months since my last application. Sometimes people mention that being stuck on one product line is a downside to using Zaino...but when detailing my other car which has carnauba, I often find myself wishing I had products that worked as well on caranuaba as Z-6 & Z-7 work on a Zaino'd car!
