New *AIR HOSE* Reel installed.. Pics

After shopping around for a few weeks I decided to go with this one. I picked it up at our local farm supply store. It is 50 footer, spring loaded and automatically retracts… I am not sure if I am going to leave it there yet, I liked it there because I could take the hose out the garage door to do work in the drive way easily. I may end up with it between the doors hanging the same way??? It will be like this for a while, let me use it a few times and I may move it? So far I love it :)

I always enjoyed the retractable cords in shop class (back in HS).



How did you mount that 2x4 to the ceiling?
 
Well per a friend on another fourm I moved my air/water seperator up to the reel, It seems to work much better than having it right outside the compresser.. :)

Redcar GUY...........Can I ask where you found the reel and how much $$$ it was??? I'm in the process of plumbing hard lines to the garage and basement wood shop and am looking for 2 or 3 reels. Harbor Freight has theirs with 25' hose on sale until 9/27 for $39/ea., but I'm a little leary of the quality. All of the industrial quality ones that I've found are $175 and up!!!!:shocked



I was thinking of putting two 25 footers in the garaqge and one in the basement shop, plus a few drops with filters and regulators for things like an air brush/sprayer, etc.



I'm also curious if you find the Sears compressor adequate and quiet enough??? Thanks!!!!

I got mine at our local farm store called Rural King. It was $79 with the 50foot hose..

If it's oilless it's not quiet. I've had the big Sears 6 hp and a smaller Hitachi oilless and I couldn't hear myself think around either one. I now have a 5 hp Campbell Hausfeld which is not a high end brand, but it serves all my home shop needs and it is quiet!



It sits on a big vertical tank .. I set it up in the basement and ran lines into the garage to save garage space and reduce noise.

I have a water trap in the basement and another with integral regulator in the garage at one of four stations. I used 3/4 inch copper lines stopped down to 1/2 inch at the outputs I did install a high output connector at one station directly off the 3/4 line to serve the large air tools like the 3/4" impact wrench. Other than that I have two reels overhead and another regular 1/2 inch connector at the bench.



One note...and this usually brings lots of contrary opinions... do not use PVC pipe to run your air.
