never detailed tacoma: miracle Pdct or elbow grease?

So I'm not expecting an easy answer here but curious if more advanced detailers may have some ideas/pointers/tips.

Car is a never before detailed Tacoma truck and as you can see in the pics, it's in pretty nasty shape. I'm trying to spruce up the interior right now.

The difficulty I'm encountering is the soiled plastic door area. Not the fabric area, as Ultima car shampoo did a great job at cleaning it up.

In the pics you can see it's pretty nasty. Some areas have been 'rubbed' so much it's super smooth...

I've thrown Ultima car shampoo gel, dawn, Sonus APC at 20:1. Method has been spray, agitate with tooth brush and wipe off... Well let's just say that the results are NOT impressive and very minimal grim gets off...

I have tried a more mechanical elbow grease approach and used a used sponge with Ultima and it worked better, but I was putting quite a bit of pressure and still some crevasses in that plastic were tough to get at... I could see this working and since the driver door is the worst, my arm may get a good exercise by doing so but I'd rather resort to that as the last option.

My worry is that applying to much elbow grease will 'scratch' the surface. The area I did though did not appear to be scratched in any visible way though just as an FYI.

My question is thus:

What do other use for those really worn & dirty areas?

Is there a risk of scratching the plastic or is there another product that is better at 'penetrating' or 'dissolving' that nasty stuff?

Maybe try more concentrated Sonus apc dilution?

I also have access to a steam machine, the ones you typically use for household and clothing... but it produces hot water vapor, maybe I could harness some of that cleaning ability...

Any thoughts?

Pics make it actually look better than it is! It's way dirtier in reality.

Some randomn pics of the interior to give you a sense...

I do have a couple of weeks to finish the car before the owner comes back from holiday. That does give me time to buy another product...

In all honesty, I'd prefer to try and figure something with what I have first.   If all fails, I'd certainly be willing to give OPC a try :)

Order a McCulloch(bad spelling) steamer from Harbor Freight for $100. It will whack-a-mole that interior in no time.

I've been wanting to get a steamer for a while... ordered it. A relatively big expense for me but hopefully a good investment in the long run!

it seems this may also allow me to do the car seats?

thanks for the input btw!

I wished I had taken after pics! [insert face palm slap]. But i wanted to update this real quick.

I found the steamer to help quite a bit, especially on cloth, seats and interior. On occasions, I used an upholstery foam can and the steamer to get the grim off. I did find that I would need to use many towels because of the level of filth. And those extensions, especially the brushes, don't last half as long as I would have hoped (or I apply way to much force  on them). At any rate, a learning curve, and a good investment for my needs at the time.  Certainly a good purchase for sure especially for the occasional customers I have.

thanks for the input folks!

Glad that Steamer worked for you.

I would suggested Opc and steam.

I also stream through microfiber.

You can always try woolite also.

It's super cheap.

yes I have used woolite on alcantara before when I had to clean them... diluted, it worked suprisingly well and left a pleasant scent.
