Netflix series Making a Murderer

I watched the whole thing. It is pretty crazy, and still not sure how I feel about all the verdicts. The show seems to be all over the news now, I would finish watching it all before you read all the current news. I had no idea about the case when I watched it.

I started it last week and watched another episode last night, very interesting series so far.
Netflix has been producing some awesome content lately, for a documentary it is extremely well written and presented.

I haven't started it yet but plan too.

I agree, Netflix has some great documentary content. Definitely watch "Living on a dollar". A truly humbling experience.

Just finished episode 3. Impossible at this point to have an opinion of innocence or guilt, but one thing for sure is all the law enforcement involved in this is shady as hell.

**spoiler**

The key magically turning up after the trailer was searched 3 times already and found by the manitowoc sheriff's dept who shouldn't have been on the property in the first place is beyond fishy. Plus the lack of blood in the room where supposedly cut her throat seems pretty much impossible.

The way the investigators handled that kid was complete garbage. Rather convenient the kid has to choose between life in prison without parole or basically make the prosecutors case against Avery to get out in 20.

Just started episode 4. This kid's defender is a total goober.

And how in the hell did that judge allow this kids confession to stand....did he not watch the same tapes?

What

The?

This kid is just about retarded and he's been told what to say the entire way even by his attorney's own investigator. I don't know how the hell anything he said could be used

I saw the entire thing and it's very interesting. A lot of things don't add up and I am not sure how I feel about the verdicts.

Watched a couple episodes Friday... It's astonishing that this nonsense went on for so long. Did the county really have nothing else to do for 30 years? Incredible.

Spoiler if you haven't watched it all.

The wife and I just finished the first season. After watching the whole thing I can't believe they were convicted and there definitely seemed like a lot of corruption. With 36 million on the line and the insurance companies out of the picture it clearly showed motive IMO. I also wanted to know more about Teresa's phone records and who the person was that was always calling her and had her agitated.

Lots of other things bothered me too but at the end of the day we are only seeing the shows point of view and how they spun it. Still disturbing to watch and see how shady some of the people were.

I meant to watch Episode 1 last night, and couldn't turn it off - watched three episodes.
I was hoping that if I invest the time for all 10 episodes, that it would provide closure, but it seems those of you that have seen it all are still in a quandry? Argh!

Is season 2 going to be about a different person? Or more of Avery?

I don't believe there is a season 2. I thought I read somewhere this was a 10 year project by the creators and they made a deal with Netflix to get it out

We started watching it last night after our daughter told us about it and I am blown away by it,we looked at 4 episodes and will watch the rest tonight, there was something similar up in Donegal many years ago,not as blatant as this one but it ended up in a tribunal that exposed the whole filthy mess, maybe that's where this is going to end up also,to me there are to many questions that have to be answered if they are ever to get any credibility in the future, its time to do the washing in public.

There’s Even More Evidence That The ‘Making A Murderer’ Convictions May Be Wrong – UPROXX

If you’re like me, you binge-watched Netflix’s new true crime documentary Making Murderer in two or three sittings, and then hit the internet to verify the people behind the documentary weren’t leaving out any major evidence that Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey were guilty. The case for their innocence holds up pretty well, even in the face of a few extra details put forward by prosecutor Ken Kratz.

That included Steven Avery phoning Teresa Halbach three times on the day of her murder, and Kratz claiming the bullet with Halbach’s DNA was traced back to Steven Avery’s rifle. These are significant claims, ones that have put doubt back into the minds of many who watched the show. But if you’re going to talk about damningxevidence that was left out of the 10+ hour documentary, what about more evidence that Avery and Dassey were innocent?

Reddit users over at the/r/MakingaMurderer subreddit went ahead and made their own compilation of extra evidence, and it’s pretty compelling. Their claims include, but aren’t limited to:

-Contradicting Kratz’s most recent statement, a gun expert with the Wisconsin State Crime Lab said he couldn’t conclusively link the bullet found in Avery’s garage to the .22 rifle in Avery’s bedroom. He could only confirm the bullet was fired by a .22 rifle.

-There were little drops of deer blood all over Steven Avery’s garage, proving that the garage hadn’t been washed clean with bleach after the murder of Halbach as the prosecutors claimed.

-A forensic anthropologist testified for the defense that an open fire couldn’t have generated enough heat to burn a body and destroy bones the way Halbach’s remains were found.

-The leg irons and handcuffs found in Avery’s homexhad the DNA of Steven Avery and at least one other unidentified person. Teresa Halbach’s DNA was not found on them.

-One of the investigators that found DNA under the hood of Halbach’s RAV4 admitted to not changing gloves after handling evidence inside the vehicle.

-Forensic scientist Sherry Culhane was involved in Steven Avery’s 1985 rape case and testified that one of Steven Avery’s hairs was found on victim Penny Beerntsen’s shirt.

-Avery’s lawyers also contend that Culhane delayed processing the DNA test that proved Steven’sxinnocence in the 1985 rape for an entire year.

-So many problematic jurors were removed by Avery’s defense team that they hit the legal limit of dismissals. They still ended up with a man whose son was a Manitowoc sheriff and a county clerk’s husband.

The list is only growing as Making a Murderer turns more viewers into amateur sleuths willing to go over the case’s documentation with a fine tooth comb. Now if only the show could generate the same sort of interest amongst scientists who might be able to figure out a reliable test for detecting EDTA in blood samples.

As we’ve mentioned before, proving that the blood found in Teresa Halbach’s RAV4 was planted by sheriffs using preserved blood from their evidence locker is the best surefire way to re-open the case and potentially get Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey out of jail. Other than that, all this extra evidence we’re talking about now is just more fodder for fans of the show to debate over.
