Neglected Finish Ideas?

I know how much you all hate NuFinish, but it has given my family good results (of course I no longer use it... Ive moved onto Meguiars Professional stuff)



I volunteered to do a full detail on my fathers red F-250, but am looking for some ideas here.



I was thinking doing something along the lines of this:



Dawn Wash

Clay magic

Meguiars #9 (not sure about this one)

NuFinish.



then detail the wheels, trim, etc.!



But, my question for you guys is if an application of NuFinish will remove anything the #9 did?
 
It's hard to say without seeing the truck. SMR's like #9 are pretty mild cleaners. If the truck's paint is really neglected then you'll need a real paint cleaner and #9 isn't it. I'd start with something like #2 Fine Cut Cleaner or maybe Medallion Paint Cleaner; something a tad more aggressive than #9 to remove oxidation and serious scratches/stains. Then follow up with #9 if you want (I'm betting you won't need it).



NuFinish is plenty aggressive and will probably be a decent follow up to a cleaner. You will likely have to apply two coats to get the paint looking good.

Well, there are a few scratches, but nothing out of the ordinary. Im more concerned with the swirls induced from automatic car washes (UGHH they just dont care....its all about convience!) and oxidation. The truck hasnt been waxed for almost a year now (UGH) but it still beads water in some spots, but it looks like crap.



I will try my #9, as I have a good amount of it availible (plus i cannot justify buying some other stuff when Im doing his truck for free). He would be happy if I just put wax on it and called it a day!



I always thought NuFinish was a product you couldnt layer? Or am I mistaken here?



And yes, you're right I do have my work cut out for me here, without a PC, Im gonna work my a** off doing it by hand.
 
I don't think Bret meant to layer NuFinish, but rather to just use it twice to get both good coverage and better cleaning from NuFinish.
