Need to drum up some buisness, any opinions?

I am currently going full time with my detailing company after 3years of doing it part time. I already have 15-20 vehicles that I wash on a bi-weekly basis. Doing those current customers would take 3 days to detail, that leaves 11 days to aquire some other buisness to keep me busy as I want to keep my idle time to a minimum.

What are some good ways to increase buisness? I have a wonderful word of mouth thing going, and I was going to play on that offering current customers $5 off their next wash for some referals. I also know I need to advertise, but I am in the process of getting a buisness name and bank account set up, so I dont want to advertise just "brandon's details" for 2wks and then switch to a full name after that. Almost like a "just kidding". I want buisness cards and possibly a flyer stating what services I offer. I dont want to put the prices on the flyer, I would rather talk about that in person. I also want a website and place that and my buisness name on the rear glass of my detail truck to get some added buisness.

Any other ways to drum up some buisness in a short amount of time?

PM me your address, and I'll send you some of my marketing items (brochure, door hangers, etc.) I'm going to have an ad in a local high end magazine this month. I have plenty of business, but I'm trying to weed out some of customers who only want you cheapest package.

Brandon,

Go to your local library and get a book called, Your Marketing Sucks (Mark Stevens)- no joke, that is the name. It's very well written- I'm about 1/2 way through and the information is very enlightening. Do not spend money on ads and marketing if you don't know your customer. Instead of giving away your profits by offering discounts to customers, just add something to the wash that costs you less than $5, but would cost the customer more- adding value!

Working on an article and will get you the link to the publication when done as it will cover some of your questions.

You might want to sit down and write down your plan...putting your ideas on paper will help you focus on your business and drive it where you want to go. I started doing this three weeks ago and now have 3 full pages of just an outline, which will produce about 15 pages of typed plans.

Hope that is helpful, Rob

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned in marketing! :up

What about giving out price sheets or sheets that list my detailing services? That may would help people better understand what I do and how much it costs to do it for.

I really don't think you are good enough to go full time. I mean has anyone ever seen the underside of your Tundra before the wreck? I mean......c'mon!!!

:har: :har: :har: :har: :har: :har:

OK.........back to reality!! I haven't been doing this long enough to give any advice. All I know is that people would be very fortunate to have you take care of their vehicles! Word of mouth has brought me a lot of business and it's the only advertising that I do.

Not quite sure how I feel about putting prices on a pricelist though. People want to see what you charge, sometimes people won't take the time to call if you don't put them on there, but, by the same token, you almost want people to call you so you can talk to them and put them at ease with what they are about to spend. I don't know.......

Someone on her actually gave me an idea for another source of business. They had detailed the "show car" of one of the stereo shops in town. So there is a '56 BelAir up the street from where I live that they use as an attention getter. I called the owner of the shop and sent him some links to the cars I have done on here. He called back and said that the cars looked great and that he hadn't actually taken a close look at the car in a long time. I have an appointment with him on Saturday to talk about things. So that's another venue to check out.

Either way..........Good luck with everything!!

Hey now, just b/c I had a wreck does not mean that my undercarriage is any less spectacular. Ha, j/k. I have to post up pics after my detail of it on sat.

I think I may just wait and pick out a name and I think I have to get an "assumed" name form from the county and then voila! I have a name. Then i can put it on cards and maybe a website.

PLEASE get some pics up!! I really want to see how it turned out!!

I got new business cards and have a guy working on a website for me. The homepage of the website matches my business cards. Thought it was a nice touch. Of course.....now I have to play the waiting game for him to finish it.....:wall

I went with "Mose Auto Detailing". The last four digits of my cell number are 6673 (MOSE) and my license plate on the Tundra is MOSE 07 so it kinda ties in!!

Kinda cool on the name there mose. I have a list of about 20 names for my buisness, but right now I am leaning toward "Down and Dirty Detailing". I want something catchy to help me be remembered.

One easy way is leave a business card with everyone you talk to and and leave one wherever you go. Whether the card is finished or not.
