Need Help

Sorry about this post guys and gals, but I need your help. I bought a 04' Chyrsler Crossfire Blaze Red. When i got it, there were swirls, more like cob webs all over the car. I plan on putting Zaino on it. But here's my questions.

1. What can I use to get the swirl marks not fill (BY HAND)?

2. What should I use to apply it with and remove?

Alos, can somebody give me a list of everyting that I should buy to detail my car (towels, applicators, Mittens to wash my car, etc). I spent $35K for this baby and I don't mind spending a little more to take care of it.

I plan on buying everything from properautocare.com. If somebody has a better place, let me know.

Thanks for your time

Grumpyg- I'm gonna do the "go search" response as far as what you'll need for all your detailing needs ;) That's not really a blow-off; the question is like "how do I build a house?" and beyond my ability to answer in a reasonable amount of time.

To remove your swirls, choose two products (one each, of aggressive and mild) from any of the "reputable sources". Such as Poor Boy's, Meguiar's, 3M (pns 05933 and 05937), Menzerna, or 1Z. Since you're going with Zaino, I'd probably go with Poorboy's, Menzerna or 3M.

You can apply the above polishes with foam applicators, a folded, 100% cotton towel, or MF. Remove with a cotton towel or MF. Look around the site for tips on how to do this, maybe click on the "learn" icon. Study up before you spend your money and time.

The exterior styling of that car is great. Finally, an American car with some flair!

Agreed with Accumulator on the 'go search' response.

Here are some things to consider (not meant to be a comprehensive list):

Exterior:

1. Products for swirl removal (polishes), i.e. 1Z, Menzerna, 3M - I have experience with Menzerna and 3M but all with the PC. Foam pads, terry cloth pads, MF pads are all choices for application.

2. Sealant - i.e. Zaino (which you already have) - If you want to do quick detailing (QD) Z6 is a great complement to the Z system

3. Good car wash and wash mitt (I like the chenille wash mitts from Autopia) - Z7 is a great wash in the Z system, great smell and good amount of suds.

4. Rubber care, i.e. 303 Aerospace, 1Z products - good for your tires as well as a dressing

5. General all purpose cleaner, i.e. Megs APC (All Purpose Cleaner)or Eiman Fabrik (EF) High Intensity (HI)

6. Plastic protectant (use both interior and exterior), i.e. Plexus

7. Good applicators, i.e. foam pads, MF, etc.

8. Towels (drying, removing polish residue, QDing), i.e. I prefer MicroFiber (MF) to terry cloth now

9. Don't know if you want to detail your engine bay or not, something else to consider.

Interior:

1. Leather cleaner and conditioner, i.e. Lexol, Pinnacle

2. Good vaccum

3. Vinyl protectant, i.e. 1Z, 303 Aerospace

4. Carpet care, i.e. spot remover, carpet/upholstery cleaner - Eiman Fabrik (EF) products are great IMO

5. Plastic care, i.e. Plexus

Have you considered a PC? It's a great tool for exterior detailing.

Detailing is all about personal preference. Be sure to get the Autopia e-book and read up. Click on LEARN and you will be directed to DBs www.Bettercarcare.com (another great reading resource) Knowledge is everything!

If you want to support this forum as well, check out www.autopia-carcare.com or just click on the SHOP button located at the top.

Hope this helps.

This is only because of the heavy influence of the Benz cars on that Crossfire, otherwise Chrysler would have f'd that one up too.
