A gentleman contacted me about washing his vehicles each week. The wash would consist of a exterior wash and dressing of the tires, that is about it. EAch vehile will first recieve a full detail and then every so often a maintence package, but each week just a wash.

3 dump truck 6 wheel size

1 box truck about the same size

a corvette

dodge pickup

3 trailers that hold the equipment open type for paving materials since he does asphalt

and finally a spray and scrub of the equipment

i have no clue what to charge each week for this service, any help is needed as well as additional info or input!

$300 to wash 3 dump trucks. (2 hours per truck X 3 = 6 hours X $50 per hr = $300)

$100 to wash 1 box truck. (2 hours X $50 per hour = $100)

$50 to wash a corvette. (1 hour X $50 per hour = $50)

$50 to wash dodge pickup. (1 hour X $50 per hour = $50)

$200 to wash 3 trailers plus spray/scrub equipment. (4 hours X $50 per hour = $200)

Total cost would be $700 for 14 hours work at $50 per hour.

Cheap is not always good. And good is not always cheap.

Frank did you see this ??? for paving materials since he does asphalt

Wash a (6 wheel) dump truck, 2 hours ???

How many people doing the washing?

Are you using a steam cleaner or a pressure washer?

Call around your area and ask a few “Steam Cleaners what they charge. Be specific about the spec of the truck and ask if they have done one like that before?

Please report back after you find out!!! Ask about it all exp the cars?

Edit: Have you seen this equipment?

When is the last time it was cleaned?

2nd Edit : Better yet!!!

You do the vet and the truck since you’re the professional detailer.

Have a Steam Cleaner do the equipment and you manage and sell the deal. The Steam Cleaner gives you a 15%+ pop on the deal. Get it all on paper and signed by both parties.

Rich, I got your message.

3 Dump Trucks That Size - $100 each (minimum) (If there is aluminum to be polished, definitely, definitely, definitely, and oh yea, definitely, increase the price...your arms and wallet will think you later!)

Box Truck - $75-$100

Corvette - $30 (If it takes you 30 min. like myself)

Pickup - $45 (If it takes you 45 min. like myself)

Trailers - $25-$30 each (If all you're doing is degreasing and pressure washing)

Equipment - Steam Rollers ($20-$40) / Skid Steer Loaders ($20-$40) / Pavers ($20-$60)

BTW, the above is what I charge the paving companies I service...and I do those by myself! :scared: Also, all of the above I do not do all in one day!

You know, it's funny, one of the companies I do have almost the same stuff as above:

3 dump trucks (2 are 8 wheel, and 1 is 6 wheel)

3 trailers

7 pieces of equipment

Ford f350

Ford f150

Dodge Ram 2 door

3 corvettes

I guess all pavers are copycats. :p

thanks for the replies, this guy soudns really really cheap!! He was saying he had some guy do it for 20 dollar a vehicle, i almost hung up on him. He says he just wants like a quick spray down and even air dry them with a leaf blower, no detailing a quick, super quick wash. I dont know what to do or what to say to that. He says that kid had 2 helpers and were able to do that within 2-3 hours, that seem unreal!

I'd pass. He doesn't want the quality of work you are capable of.

Like we discussed the other night, you lowball it and you will hate doing the job very quickly.

Absolutely.

Rich, if he isn't willing to pay what you are charging, definitely do not do it. I would walk away if a customer wanted to lowball my price to do a 2006 2 door sports car in perfect condition, so imagine if someone wanted to lowball my price to do huge trucks!

Here's the problem Rich. He says he only wants a quick spray down.... If he cares enough to have someone come out every week to care for his vehicles and equipment, he does at some point care about the quality of the work being done. With dump trucks, especially those used for paving, majority of the time are not going to look all that great with a quick spray down, especially if you are not using any type of pre- spray down soap and degreaser. This may work for haulers that have regular big rigs that are in pretty good shape but not so much for trucks used in paving (asphalt caked on, tar splatter stains all over, etc.). You don't want to be there all day degreasing, scrubbing, chopping off stubborn asphalt, and power washing, and then you end up making well under what you should have been paid....and to top it off, then the customer may complain about missed areas, etc.
