Need help with polishes...

Hello fellow Autopians! I am fairly new to detailing and am thinking about buying a pc and some polishes. I have heard Menzerna polishes were very good, but are m105 and m205 just as good as SIP and P0106FA, on my black sapphire bmw?

While we all have our faves, the short answer to your question is "yes". In most situations you'll do just was well with eithe the Meguiar's or Menzerna approach. I know plenty of people who simply *love* Menzerna (including my painter), but I don't use it and I'm perfectly satisfied with how my vehicles turn out.

If you had a *Jet* black BMW that'd be different, but for your *Saphire* (much harder clear on those AFAIK) I'm confident you'll do OK with either approach.

Even with M105 (more cut than SIP AFAIK), you'll almost certainly want to use 4" pads for serious correction. My BMW is older ('97) but I sure need the added power of the smaller pads to correct flaws on it.

Thanks Accumulator, i plan on ordering both 4" and 5.5" pads. The reason I was wondering is the Meguiars is alot cheaper than the menzerna

Well, I doubt the guys at Mequiar's ever say "gee, our stuff doesn't work well on this BMW, better go buy some Menzerna" :chuckle:

But seriously, I'm pretty confident you'll do fine with the M105/M205. The M105 has worked well on mine for the aggressive work, and whenever I get back to working on it (long-term project) I'll probably use M205 for the finishing polish.
