Need help with Bug Deposits

Hello:

I am new to Autopia and am trying to find out what products/ method I can use to remove bug deposits that I can't get off. I have tried Turtle Wax bug remover (one that has always worked for me in the past). If the insects are left on there too long, what can I do to remove them and what damage has been done?

I would like a quick fix for now. Is there something I can get at Pepboys or Autozone that will help?

Thanks,

Craig

Get all of them off the best you can with the bug & tar remover and a good wash. Try to remove any that remain with an automotive detailing clay. for directions on how to use the clay go to this link:How to Clean with Clay.

Worst case is that they may have etched your paint if left on too long. If that's the case try using Meg's Scratchx, here is a link for that: Link on using Scratchx.

Once you get them cleaned off apply a good wax/sealant and keep them cleaned off as soon as possible by washing or using a QD (quick detailer).

You should be able to find some clay, Scratchx and a QD at a Wal-mart or most any auto parts store.

Craig,

I like to use Stoners Tarminator to help remove those hard-to-remove bug deposits. In extreme cases I'll use #2 Fine Cut Cleaner with a small cloth applicator along with a couple of shots of Tarminator. That will usually do the trick. Remember, once you use this type of combo you will always need to re-polish and re-wax the affected areas.

1z bug and tar remover works well, my process is I rinse the area thouroghly and then spray the cleaner on the bumper, let it sit and take a sponge mad to remove bugs and apply some soap directly to it for added lubrication and cleaning power, scrub and then rinse off. Like every one else has stated make sure you polish and wax afterwards. Good Luck!!!
