Need help on product decisions

Hey guys, this site is great but I need some help on product decisions.
The car: 2000 Accord Black (midnight)
Location: Central Florida (hard water)
Condition of paint: Horizontal surface appear to have minor oxidation and water stains, minor fading of true color // Verticle surfaces manintain color and could use a simple clean up

The car has not had a coat of wax in 3 years (I know rule 1, 3 times a year)

I need to know what type of product I can pick up to clean or strip oxidation and stains. I have a PC polisher and the better foam pad kit (i dont rememebr the name). I tried a high end cleaner wax from a local store and it was a pain to get off (car was cool in garage). I can only assume the paint was too dirty and needs more of a cleaner then wax.

ANy suggestions would be appreciated or at least a link for reccomended steps..

Thanks again.

You need a compound. Maybe 3M Perfect It. Very nice to work with. Follow with a nice glaze/polish, then a final step sealant. I do not know how capable the PC is very heavy cleaning. If you can get a high speed wheel get it. That will definitely do the job. Make sure you clay it also.

With the right pads the PC should be enough to handle most jobs. A rotary is a great help but it's got a bit of a learning curve to be used safely and effectively. A chemical polish like Poorboy's Pro Polish or Megs Deep Crystal Pint Cleaner will take care of the oxidation, you'll probably have to brush the pad off midway through the polishing to get the dead paint out of the pad. Keep at it, you'll do a great job if you work intelligently and informedly.

I agree with tuba. Pickup some meguiars deep crystal paint cleaner. That will remove the oxidation and hopefully help with waterspots. From there you will want to polish out whater might remain of waterspots. IF your ordering online then poorboys is pretty user freindly.

I would start with PB's SSR 2.5 cutting pad on 5k or 6K , then some PB's Polish w/ Carnuba on a polishing pad at 4 to 5K . Take a look and see if you're happy . Some horizontal areas may need a second app of 2.5 . Don't be affraid to use 6K with firm pressure for trouble areas.

Oh yeah , use some clay after washing .
