This is my first post and set of questions. I have been reviewing the archives and have come up with a set of steps that should help me get good results.

I have a car that is light in color and has a 12 yr old non-clearcoat paint job. It is in fair/good shape but does have some scratches under the paint and spider webs/light scratches on top of it.

I was going to use Zaino. I have used these products before with good results. I would like to try something new and am afraid of Zaino highlighting the permanent imperfections in the paint. I have already clayed the car with good results.

So, I have decided to use FI-II to remove some of the spiderwebs/light scratches. I have already started this process with a variable speed drill on low and a foam pad attachment. The process is slow but seems to be working fairly well. I will then apply one coat of Klasse AIO, followed by 4-5 coats of Klasse Sealant Glaze. I will apply the Sealant Glaze, let dry for 24 hours and remove it with a damp microfiber towel and follow it with a dry towel wipe. I'll finish with several coats of Pinnacle Souveran.

On to the questions.

I was unable to find the Porter Cable 7224 at any of the local Lowe's stores. I only found the 7336. Is there a difference?

Why only one coat of AIO, wouldn't several coats be better?

Can I apply the Klasse products by hand or should I continue my Porter Cable search?

Pinnacle Paste Glaze is recommded for lighter cars but I have seen several glowing recommendations for Souveran on lighter cars. I have also seen recommondations for Blitz and P21S. The CMA site recommends not using Pinnacle products on Sealant Glaze only on AIO. This is often recommended on this site. Anyone know CMA's reasoning?

What topper would be best for a non-clearcoat, lighter paint job? Is Souveran the right choice? Would numerous coats of the topper work better?

I have learned a lot and thanks to everyone!

Your first question regarding the 7336 and the 7224..they are the same with the exception of the accessories that come packaged with the unit. AIO wont layer because of the cleaning properties, just enough abbrasive to remove any previous layer. I would apply AIO with the PC then the SG by hand. Lastly for my money you can top SG with any of the waxes you mentioned but dollar for dollar its hard to beat P21s/S100

Brokerbh is absolutely correct. And i suggest you get the 7336, since it comes equip with the 6" counterweight which will come in handy when you start buying pads especially from CMA.

You can apply AIO by hand no problem. It's pretty simple to work with, but don't expect it to do a lot in the way of fixing problems. I did AIO twice just for cleaning effect because I applied it right after a swirl remover and was worried about bonding. I imagine one good application would do it though.

CMA's reasoning for using only AIO prior to topping should be on the same page you read that. It says they believe it may cause hazing, but many here have topped AIO/SG with wax without issue. It may be a problem with how SG is applied, but that's just a theory. SG is kind of a finnicky product to work with, and a lot of the talk about SG hazing can really make you paranoid about how you apply it....
