Hi autopians,

I was in look for another rotary, but are having trouble on which one to get. It's between the Hitachi and the Makita rotary. I read alot of people suggesting the Hitachi because its lighter and has more power, but seen more people use the Makita then the Hitachi. Also they look like there going for the same price too. So that makes my decisioning a bit harder. So out of the people that use both of them. Which one would you get again and again ??? :hm

I don't think you can go wrong with one of those two

they are really about the same

I have a Makita and love it it has lasted a long time with no problems

just get the one you can find the best deal on

I bought the Hitachi because it was waaay cheaper than the Makita. I could have gotten either and be happy with the decision. As Jim said, get the one with the best deal.

With that said it like the hitachi because:

1. It is pretty light

2. Sturdy and comes with 5 year warranty.

3. soft start trigger

I paid $119 For my new Hitachi.

Wow 119 for it, Where was that ???

Hey guys,

Actually, i just bought a few weeks ago on ebay at a buy it now price. I'll pm you the seller. I don't know if has some in stock right now.

I currently have 3 rotaries. Makita, Metabo, & Flex

I'm going to sell the Metabo because I like having a trigger handle. I like using the Makita and the Flex. Although, I find the Flex is nicer to work with on vertical panels as its a very light-weight machine.

So is the makita kind of like the PC is to orbital machines. Kind of like just go with what people been using for a long time, Cause then you know its good ???

Jesse, please don't be offended by this but your grammar is killing me. I spend more time trying to figure out what language you're speaking than actually understanding your problem. With terms like Broking, decisioning, I was in look, but are having trouble. Maybe it's just an inside joke and I'm not getting it.

Sorry

I bought the Hitachi because it was in stock when I was ready to purchase, I'm happy with it. Honestly though I could have just as easily gone with the Makita if it was in stock that day.

I sell power tools for a living and I believe you can't go wrong with a makita. But what works for me doesn't mean it won't work for you. There is one thing I learned about detailing, #1 you will find someone who loves a different product and #2 we all do it a different way. If you buy a makita or a hitachi from a authorized distrubutor you will have 30 days to return it no questions asked. So buy the one you think will be the best fit and if you don't like buy the hitachi. When I bought my makita I got the detailer package which came with a bag, wool pad, and a foam pad. retail $179.00. That was a couple of years ago but I have no regrets. One thing about weight of a tool is it means that much less pressure you have to apply. Hitachi is a great product also. My apolgies to anyone who I offended with my spelling or grammer.

I have had them all and honestly if you are looking for a tough SOB machine then go with Makita. I have a Hitachi and it is smooth and precise but is bi-polar like all my ex-girlfriends. :chuckle: It speeds up and down on it's own on occasion.

I have a Metabo which I hated at first but LOVE it now. Next will be a Fein.

im still using a ridiculously old black and decker automotive rotary that only has one speed....1750rpm. sad thing is it works great. after searching this forum for a while, im going to buy a makita this week. im hoping being able to control the speeds will improve my work.

don't hate on my old rotary. it was my father's and he pretty much gave it to me when i was younger. i learned on it and still use it. i had a rotary with a speed dial on it back then but it was a total piece of crap.
