Hi
I want a good power washer for home use to blast off stubborn dirt and to apply pre wash foam . Prefer electric .
Thank you !:)

Depending on where your from, there may be some good ones available locally. Sears and Home Depot both sell some nice units. Stay away from the junkers at Walmart though. They are nothing less than garbage. I use a Stanley 2000 psi electric that I got from Sears, and love it. Watch the psi ratings on them. Many electrics are low psi (800 -1200), and really aren't worth a dime for doing any real work with. 1600 - 2000 psi is perfect imo.

Your welcome. Im sure others will chime in with good suggestions as well. They vary in price, usually according to the quality of the machine. Mine was a little over $200, but you can get them cheaper. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for. There's nothing more irritating than having equipment fail in the middle of a project.

I have a craftsman, and I wouldn't buy another one. Every year something breaks on it and it is stored in a heated garage in the winter.

I have the Kärcher K3.69 M and its great. electric, 1800 PSI and I have been using it constantly for a year and a half now without a problem.

I think I paid just around $200 for it. Fantastic little machine.

i'm thinking about a karcher gas powered one 3000psi
I had kept quiet in this thread because I like bigger units than were being discussed. I have a 13 H.P. DeWalt and it's much more than would ever be needed unless one is cleaning and repainting frames or suspensions. That said I can cut it back and do anything I need on a car or turn it up and wash the gutters in front of my home.

What you mentioned here is in an entirely different league than some of the smaller electric units being mentioned. Big difference, big improvement in potential cleaning ability but you must realize that knowing how to use this is a must in order to keep paint on panels. 3000 p.s.i. can blow paint off. The smaller units are pretty much safe running full tilt. With 3000 p.s.i. you have to be careful. It isn't hard and I'm not trying to talk you out of it. I think that it's exactly what you should do. They aren't quite as portable but I don't travel.

Here's something to bring a smile to your face. I had a friend a number of years back that hit his then 3 day old Trans Am with a larger 6 H.P. gas powered unit. The next week he was getting his fender and part of the hood repainted. It literally blew a 2 ft. strip of paint off of the car. It's funny now it was tragic when it happened.

Good luck on your purchase.

I am on my second Karcher. For the amount of time that I use it and what I use it for it seems to satisfy my needs.

I've seen this kind of thing happen 100 times with the Hotsy power washer at work, and even the portable gas powered ones. I too like the more powerful units, but being mobile the small electrics are perfect. Plus, I don't have to worry about the noise or weather its going to start. A good dependable gas powered power washer just can't be beat though when it comes to cleaning ability.
