I am not taking a chance with autopia's 4" plates anymore. Enough is enough. After two pads being blown to bits within 45 seconds on speed 6 then 5.

After a job being hindered because of these two plates, Im in need of something more.

Should I look at getting a rotary, and some junk doors?

Thanks,

Ryan

I got a 4" plate from Patrick..Exceldetails....and it is good quality..no problems..

Speed 6 with a 4" really generates some serious heat...I use 4-5 mostly...6 on final pass if needed...but not for a long time...

these plates are made of urethane rubber and the heat will cause them to fail if used for a long time on 6...

I actually smoked some polish and clearcoat on a test panel on 6...it actually started to smoke from the heat...

I have seen some 4" plate made of a fiberglass material...maybe it was 3M..not sure...

Thank You :)

I just want something that can do the top speed if needed on a few final passes. This was on speed 6 for maybe 20 seconds then went out.

Thank You for all the advice!

I melted the velcro on my backing plate at speed 6. It was stringy like hot cheese when I pulled the pad off. My pad was perfectly flat when I started and had about a half inch recess when I got done. I'll never use 6 on a 4" pad again. Maybe on a 6" pad, but not a 4".
