Natty's Blue Streaking - What am I doing wrong?

I've tried applying Natty's Blue to my Nighthawk Black Pearl Honda Accord twice, and both times it didn't seem to spread evenly and left streaks: Some areas are darker than others.

I used a Meg's foam applicator by hand. I tried rubbing the pad in the can to transfer the wax on the pad and I've also tried using a knife to spread it on the pad like butter on bread. No difference in results.

After the first time, I thought maybe I was spreading it too thick and was having problem taking it off. I ended up buffing over it with JW Prime and AJT to remove the Nattys and/or even it out.

I just tried again today, using less product, but I could still see that as I applied the wax, by hand, there were light areas and dark areas. When I buffed it off using a polishing MF then a more plush MF, I still had light and dark areas. I even tried spreading it with my PC and a blue Edge 2k pad, but same result. I ended up punting again and used my JW combo with the PC to even it out.

Any suggestions or observations?

P.S. The temperature both times were in the low 80's and humidity was high.

I forgot to add that both times, I did NOT apply Natty's just after a polishing session. The only prep work was washing the car with ONR. There's been a combination of AJT and OCW on the paint already.

"I have had the same issues with NB and have pretty much stopped using it." Me too, been trying to trade that stuff for months. I even tried applying it with my PC, took twice as long as my old standby liquid wax and I don't get that oh wow look that I thought I would from reading all the hype.

Natty's Blue usually looks better after 12-24 hours of just sitting there. Don't ask me why, but that's just how it is.

The first time I had problems with it, I had left it alone for a day or two and the streaks were still there. That's when I busted out the PC and JW.

I'm bummed out because I had read a lot of positive comments about NB and I really wanted to like the stuff.

Strange, I've had the opposite experience. I've played around a few times with it and I tend to get hazing on the hood of my nighthawk black civic about a day after application. I figured it was some left over oils etc. but washing and buffing the area again with QD showed no improvement. I'm not writing NB off yet as it does have a nice wet look. Just seems to be finicky.

I've never had a single problem with NB or NW. Its possible there could of been some contaminants on the surface, try an IPA wipe after prep, then apply NB.

HTH

I am having the same issue with the red ! it only appears some of the time, and only on

one section of the car, like, one time it will streak on the door, next time a quarter panel

sometimes nothing at all shows up, I've tried wet applicator, dry applicator, sponge, microfiber, everything I got, wet and dry. I really, really love the shine though !

I always used S&G afterwards and it looked great. I bet if U use some sort of QD, it would solve your problem.

Thanks for the input and the tips. I don't want to give up on the Natty's just yet. I'm sure it's operator error.

Anyone have any tips on how much wax I should be putting on the pad?

Were you in direct sunlight? the temp and humidity could be the issue.

I was in the garage - no direct sunlight. It was probably in the low '80's and humidity was medium.

First I tried rubbing the pad in the jar to get some wax on it. When that didn't seem to work, I used a plastic knife to pick up a couple 1/8" chips of wax and spread that on the pad.

My impressions are that the wax isn't spreading evenly, so wherever the wax was laid on thicker, the paint was darker. I tried circular motions and back and forth/up and down but I just couldn't get uniform coverage.

i have not tried NB, but have the reg NW from about 2-3 yrs ago. and had no problems like this.

the only time I have experienced anything close, is when using a wax over a glaze. I had a little smearing issue, but i washed the car, mf'd it dry and the smear was gone.

If I remember correctly, my issues with NB were also associated with RMG use. Great looking combo though.

Like I said, S&G took care of my streaks as I'm sure ONR or regular wash would.
