Natty's blue paste wax application question

Hi everyone,

I have been avidly reading these boards since I bought my new car a few months ago and am trying to keep it in absolutely pristine condition.

What I've done so far:

When new- washed, clayed, applied Z2-Pro x 3. About a month later applied Jeff's AJ.

Spray on FX-100 about every week and use FX-146 and 425 almost daily.

Now to my question.

I bought some NB wax and have applied it via PC and Edge 2000 white pad. I can't tell if I'm using too much or too little. I spread it on the pad then apply at a speed of 4. There doesn't seem to be much product going onto the paint but then maybe I can't see it.

Am I doing this right? :help:

I plan on doing this waxing about every two weeks and at the rate I'm going I think I'm going to run out of product very quickly.

Also, at what point do I need to start over with washing, claying, AIO, sealant, etc.? The paint feels smooth as glass right now so I'm not anxious to undo all my hard work.

Also, my paint is silver if this helps.

Natty's Blue is usually applied by hand. You can obviously use your PC but that takes some of the fun out of it IMO.

If you decide to stick with the PC, I would not use a polishing pad (white). I would use a finishing pad (grey or blue). You will run through the Natty's real fast using a PC. One jar of NB, application by hand, has endured 2 full detail seasons on two cars. It doesn't take much to make a drastic difference.

I use Natty's Blue on a dark gray metallic car, and I apply it by hand. I apply it with a microfiber applicator (though I would think a good foam applicator would be OK).

I rub a little into a section (you don't need much), rub into another section, then go back to the first section with a good MF towel. So, it is wax a section, rub off a section, wax a section, rub off a section, etc. It works well for me that way, and I don't use a whole lot of wax.

I'm happy with the results, and my jar of Natty's Blue will last a while, as well.

She is using Edge pads; the white is the finishing (finest/softest) pad in their system http://www.edgepads.com/e2k6da_dbl.htm#L1.

Anyway, TSXwench, you've got a base of Zaino on there (or did). Most people don't top that with anything (except Z-8 or similar). Why did you want to apply the NB? Were you unhappy with the look that the FK spray waxes and QD's were giving you? I would third the advice to apply the NB by hand, if you're going to stick with that.

Thanks for all your help. I went ahead today and put on a layer of NB by hand with a foam applicator per your advice. This really was a better way to apply it. As to why I am using the NB - I've read so much that people like wax over sealant that I just had to try it. Plus I am so obsessed with my car that I just can't stop buying products and doing things to it. :buffing:

I'm not really sure that I can tell a difference with or without the wax. It looked pretty good before.
