NASTY Sable Wagon

Well, my day went from good to bad when I saw this thing in my driveway, but I knew I could spruce it up a bit. I was thankful that it was an interior only deal, as the woman said the exterior had only been washed once or twice. This car has 150k on at and it seems like it was never cleaned. Well, heres my process:

Vacuum

Pre-Treat carpets with simple-green 10:1

Oxy Clean method on seats and carpets x2

Clean all trim and door jambs with simple green

Armor-All On all plastic and vinyl

409 10:1 on headliner

Since I did do this car for free as a gift that my mom had given to someone, I just decided that I would not use my poorboys and other professional prouducts

ENJOY!!

Why/how do people let their cars get into that bad of shape. You pay thousands of dollars for a car and then you just let it go to waste. a house is a major investment and you take care of it... well... a car is a major investment also, it needs to be taken care of just like the car.

anyways, enough of my ranting. you did a great job on that interior. I do hope the lady didn't say anything about the leftover stain on the driver floormat. I would have to smack her if she did.

I think this goes to show that process is more important than products. you used easy OTC stuff and it still worked well.

Thanks for the compliments, I couldn't agree with you more Neothin, Me and my mom even got into a little fight about how someone could possibly neglect their car so much. Needless to say i was pi**ed off and not in teh greatest mood afterwards, but I was happy with the results!

I guess now you know how Vincent and Jules felt cleaning out that Nova in Pulp Fiction. :LOLOL

Maybe your Mom was paying you back for something you did when you were a little kid? ;)

Just to give you guys an idea, here are some pictures of the exterior. Even though I have become somwhat good at interior detailing, im still learning the exterior. Not only was the paint HORRIBLY oxodized and swirled, there was wayyyy to much cracking to the point that I couldnt touch a buffer to any part of the car.

Here ya go!

Some people just treat their cars as a tool to get them from A to B. I guess I can understand why, but such total neglect ... I doubt their houses would be much better.

I do agree, I just learned from my mom that this lady is devoriced with 4 kids and she is starting up a gym... now I can see why maybe this car is the LAST thing on her mind.

But still... If you think the visuals were bad, the motor sounded like it was gunna blow up! :nono

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but after just doing this car again, i really want to say thanks to all at autopia for making me the detailer i have become. The car came to me in even worse shape than it was in origanlly, and i was able to almost perfect the interior and correct the exterior to the point that all that was left was body work. Thanks again guys!

Btw, car was appraised at $650 before detail, sold for $1500 after!
