My Wolfgang Review

I used Wolfgang on a black '99 4Runner. The car was washed and clayed before applying anything.



Pre-Wax - WOW my arm hurts. I think I applied it a little to heavily. I really like this stuff, though. It gives the paint a very deep, wet look. It doesn't mix very well with water; there a few runs left over which caused some smearing. Otherwise, removal was pretty easy.



Sealant - All around awesome. Goes on nice and smooth and comes off easier than anything I ever used. I allowed it to dry for about 15 min. Very glossy and slick.



Overall, it is MUCH deeper than Zaino and shine and slickness are VERY similar to S100 and Zaino.



This product just became my new favorite on black cars.



NXT isn't even in the same ball park as this stuff.

So you think it's better (easier) to use it with a PC?
 
I think this stuff would probably work beautifully with a PC, but again, I most likely used to much product.
 
I have used Wolfgang twice with a PC. Great technique. Cleaner and Sealant - easy on easy off. :xyxthumbs

I am finishing a metallic burgundy Alero tomorrow and I think I will go with Wolfgang. So many decisions: NXT? Zaino? EX? UPP? BFII, Souveran? P21S, Meg #16 or #26, Natty's Wax? Moose Wax? etc? etc?

All great choices. :xyxthumbs
 
thanks for the review. It's good to hear you like. I plan on trying various new samples this weekend and "Wolfgang" ( :rolleyes: ) will be getting applied to one panel to begin its durability testing.
 
The smell is definitely different to me. I am used to the cherries of Zaino.



But IMHO Wolfgang does all the things that NXT promised but didn't deliver for me.
 
smells sort of citrisy. like a lemon. the spritz smells like Cool Water by Davidoff! Looks like it can be used as a body spray as well. ;)

That certainly is a glowing review. Sorry for the pun:o



I'll have to agree. NXT is enticing in the sense that it is readily available, requires little prep, and gives a good shine with durability better than most waxes, but ... it doesn't knock my sock off.



Sooooooooo ... it's back to the drawing board for me as far as finding the right combo for my personal truck. Guess I'm gonna have to give Wolfgang products a try. Or, I may wait to see a review on a red vehicle first:nixweiss

I noticed that too. If I forget to put on some cologne, I can just splash on a little Wolfgang!



I agree that (based on initial impressions), it is a really good product line.

Just wait until the end of the week. I'll be polishing the Zaino and the swirls off my red z28 and applying some Wolfgang to see what I think.

I also think the Wolfgang is easier to work with than the others. No need to kill your shoulder waxing your car. Looks GREAT too, I am a Wolfgang fan now.:eek:
 
It 's likely the easist ON/OFF sealant I have worked with. It left a crystal clear appearance to the paint. Very nice.



....now let the aging process begin!
 
I've used it on 4 vehicles so far and have been pretty impressed. The only other sealant as easy to use is Poorboy's. I have found that the Pre-cleaner will haze trim, so be careful around plastic trim with it.

Interesting . . . I intentionally used it on the hard black plastic trim on my WRX with no problems (really made the roof rails and black plastic around my windows look nice). I did get a little on the textured surface of my mudflaps, and it did leave a bit of white when it dried, but the residue came out of the texture with a MF and a little elbow grease. :nixweiss



Did you run into problems on smooth plastics, or just residue on textured stuff?

Tort-just the textured stuff. It did wipe off with a damp MF towel. No real biggie, just thought I would point it out. ;)

Cool. I just wanted to make sure we weren't talking about the evil, hard-to-remove stains that some products can leave.

D'oh!



I washed my car after work tonight, and the WG polish residue that I thought I'd wiped out of the textured urethane on my mudflaps did indeed turn into hard-to-remove stains. I didn't have time to try anything to remove the stains; with a little luck, they won't be too stubborn.



So, to reiterate Scottwax's word of caution: careful with the polish around textured trim. Either clean up stray residue quickly before it sets, or let tape be your friend. Doesn't seem to be a problem with the hard, smooth plastic trim such as the WRX roof rails and window trim, though.
