My Wife's SUV nasty & OS update

My wife's 04 Expedition.

It was Opti-Sealed a little over 10 weeks ago.

Since then it has seen 3 automated car washes and a No Rinse.

Today I gave the beast a good bath and applied more Opti-Seal with a little Trade Secret on top.

The car has seen a lot of miles with the holiday a lot of rain and mud roads.

The sun has been baking the dirt on the last week.

It sits out side 24/7 at the home and the Mall where my wife works and is driven around 200 miles per week.

I was happy to see the OS holding up so well to what it has been through. I haven't been taking very good care of my wife's car as I'm sick of washing cars since I do it all week long and have been for over 11 years now.

Before.

After the wash still wet. The OS didn't bead like it would when first applied. However it was sheeting off the finish at a medium rate. Took it about 30 seconds to get to this point.

Sun shot after drying.

After TS applied over OS I waited 30 minuets.

Ya know something I noticed about OS: I have had it on my truck for a week or so now, and it has attracted/accumulated the least amount of dust, from a product, that I have ever known. Just thought i would share. I did a quick cleaning on it today with some Freedom, and I was really amazed at the lack of dirt/dust accumulation.

What were the prep steps the first time you Opti-sealed? I'm curious if OS is as prep dependant as OCW, as I always got good durability with OCW if I polished initially, and poor durability if I just clayed.

I did a light rotary with OP and then cycloed with OP.

My wife said the same thing after I OS her SUV. Something that caught me off guard.

Nice work, glad to see the OS is holding up to the harsh Texas sun!!!

What harsh Texas sun? I don't know about Austin (but I bet it was similar) but in the Dallas area, we got 21 days of rain in May.

I think holding up to a non-stop onslaught of rain is more impressive than holding up well to sunny days.

Looks great, Ron. :)

Good point, here in OKC we have been getting nothing but rain as well!!! Oh well at least the lakes will be nice and full for a summer full of wakeboarding....:woot:

Simply amazed at the difference. Great job!! My expedition used to build up front brake dust within miles..I mean, within a day the front wheels where already dirty. Is that the same with your wifes truck??

Thanks for the nice words. We have had our fair share of rain the past 10 weeks. Heck the night I posted the thread we had a storm blow through. A quote from my wife.

"I finaly get my car all cleaned up and it fricken rains!"

We had an entire week of sunny days.

That is a sucky feeling. Atleast it was your work that was being pelted by rain and not her own :D.....It really sucks when you have to do it yourself and then it rains! The truck looks great Ron.

It's really not that bad. The truck has 60000 miles on it and still has the orginal brakes and tires on it! My wife is very easy on the Truck. My 3 Kids beat the heck out of the inside.
