my wetvac is growing hair!

yes, its growing hair!

i did an extraction the other daya nd dumba$$ me forgot to hose out the 12 glaaon tub. i pull it out today to vac my interior this morning and the nastiest smell came out of the exhaust. i immediately cleaned it out and threw away the filter and just vacuumed it without the filter.

only problem is upon opening it up there was a ton of fungus along the innrer tubing and crevices.

can this be cleaned? should i becareful cuz of the electric motor. ive never changed/replaced the filter. how much would one come out to.

Pour some bleach down the hose and shake it around a little to kill the fungus and bacteria. Then rinse the hose out with water to make sure you got rid of the bleach before cleaning any carpet or cloth seating.

Edit: I thought you were talking about the hose, if you were talking about the inside you may want to clean it with some APC in a spray bottle so you don't flood the electrical parts and wipe clean with a disposable cloth. A filter shouldn't be too much, just depends on your model.

I have had the same thing happen. I always sprayed it out really good and used apc. I always spray out the hose too to get rid of the really gross stuff I suck up. Thanks for not including a pic.. i just ate. lol

Yeah add me to the list of having stinky wet vacs. I guess it has to be added to our routine to keep it clean along with the filters.

do really hot water and bleach suck it up out of a bucket, then if worried about the bleach use fish dechloriate
