My Tribute to Detailers of 2009 - Thank you!!!

2009, wow that went by quick. This is a few weeks overdue but better late than never. A lot of times people go out of their way to do good for someone else and too often it goes unrecognized. This is the purpose of this thread to my fellow detailers and friends. Although I met MANY great people this year, I'm going to give a shout out to the ones who have impacted me and my business the most. You guys rock :xyxthumbs

I'm sure we have all learned and shared experiences with one another and hopefully you have learned from me as I have learned from you. 2010 is looking great!!

They are in no particular order.

Thomas Dekany (Tdekany)

- Thomas, a few years back when I first met you I could tell right away how passionate and dedicated you were to quality. You helped guide me in the right direction from the start and have always gone out of your way for others. I can't think you enough for all the business referrals this past year as your time here in VA ended. Portland Oregon will soon realize the type of person they received! It's been since Easter of 2009 when we last seen one another when we did that new ZR1 together at our training day class and I look forward to the day where we work side by side again polishing away and laughing it up. I always looked forward to our phone calls, even though my girlfriend complains that I don't talk to her for an hour on the phone :rofl I wish you and your wife the best, Thomas! Hopefully I'll be seeing you soon.

Barry Theal (BufferBarry)

- Barry, Barry, Barry. Man, where do I start. Every time we talk it seems one of us always has a trick up our sleeves for the other to try. Weather it's leaving each other ruthless voice mails or teaching new guys how to sand and polish, we always seem to have a smile on are face. You are the newest of the group for me and if you ever get to meet the other guys you will know exactly why I'm writing this. Hey buddy, your only 3 shorts hours away so this spring/summer let's make sure we get together again and do some crazy write-ups and blow people away. You bring a lot of great information to the table Barry and anytime you recommend something to me, I'm all ears. Spring time is right around the corner and 2010 has no limits. Let's rock out with our....Makita's out. Yup, that's right..you own a Makita too :bigups

Eric Schuster (Toyotaguy)

- Eric buddy, you are straight doing your thing out there in Cali brother. Hopefully this year I can make my way out there. I think we click so well because were young and good looking, not like the rest of the oldies I'm over here writing about. :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl You always have a great business plan and ideas and California is lucky to have a great detailer and even better person around. Glad I could get ya hooked on some 203, it's a great polish and I wish I started using it when it first came out. Anytime you need anything, you got the number. I look forward to another great year being friends with you. Keep doing your thing out in Cali you marketing fool and reap all of 2010 and it's benefits.

Todd Cooperider (TSC17)

- Hey good buddy, man did 2009 look up for the both of us. You helped get me hooked up with DI and we got to finally meet and work together. I truly find it amazing at how we have grown in such little time. I remember years back posting up quality work together over on Club RSX, but man..look at us go now. I'm sure I have asked you 87, 88 questions on photography alone and you never hesitated once to help me. I'm not no where near the quality of your pictures, but slowly getting there and a huge improvement of where I was. It really helps me document the type of work I'm doing. Congrats on your NJB Automotive deal, it's really a super sweet set up. Come on April, I can barely wait. Not only to work on great cars but to spend time with a good friend as long as we go back to the same place for some 22oz steaks with refreshingly cold brews. We have some seriously big plans for 2010 and thanks for the help of getting me on board with a great group of people. I'm super excited.

Greg Gellas (Highrev1)

- Grego, your the man, buddy! You have caught on to the whole detailing thing extremely quick and the future sure is looking bright. I am glad you were able to make it down for a day of some 1 on 1 training and I'm glad we have kept in touch the way we do. Thank you for allowing me to stay at your place when I came up to NJ and NY for work. I had a great time and thanks for putting up with me. You and your family are excellent people and I'll be sure to make my way back up when I can. Thanks again buddy!!

Eric Howard (Howareb)

- Eric, every time you go above and beyond. Weather were working on a 35hour project together or you are doing your own customers car at the shop, you take it to the next level because your passion for success and customer satisfaction is amazing. Your tribute will be the longest as you are 25minutes away and I have the pleasure of seeing you frequently. I can't even begin to tell you how appreciative I am of you and what you have done for me in 2009, and 2008 :) Not many people would give someone a key to their shop who someone looking on the outside may consider competition. But Eric, you are truly a GREAT friend of mine and detailing or not, if you ever need anything you know you can ask. Bro, from 100 ft underground doing 25 cars over 20 straight hours, Bob Evans at 5am on the way back to the shop to finish a 18hour correction job on a 3 series, to working on six figure cars, we have done it all. Let's not get too carried away with the paint correction class we got to do together. Next time, let's set up the day before, not the morning off at 2-6am HAHA. "We better get that early bird discount, cause we early" :xyxthumbs Good times! I wish I could tell you thank you enough but words can't explain it. Hey buddy, the Knicks won tonight!! Now hopefully the Colt's come strong in the playoffs and then hey, baseball season! We are taking our trip to NY this year so you can see the Yanks, and I'll be rocking my Mets gear. Well seeing most of my things are at the shop, I'll be over soon got some things coming in. You and your wife are some of the best people I have ever met and I look forward to a life long relationship with the both of you. From the outhouse to the penthouse. See you soon and once again, thank you!

There are MANY more people I would love to ramble about but this is the core group of people I speak with. I hope everyone had a great 2009 and the sky is the limit for 2010.

Ah, look at you go DJ!

Yeah, we've definitely had a great year, with plenty more to come. Being one of the "old" guys you're referring to, I always enjoy watching a younger person like yourself develop into great business person. You have a very bright future ahead of you, that's for sure.

You're always welcome to come up. Between steaks, cold beverages, and just having you there to fling compound all over...it's good!

Head on up and bring Barry with you and we can knock out some fun Italian car projects!

Here's to 2010! :xyxthumbs

It's nice that people from opposite sides of the country can be so close. I hope to make it to your 2010 posting :)

:xyxthumbs Thanks DJ!!

It was lots of fun having you come up. You more than welcome to come stay anytime, as long as you don't sneak into my bed again ;)

I will make it down to see you again soon enough :)

THanks DJ your a pretty gosh darn good man yourself. It means a lot that you did this. Oh and we will bang some out!

I can't jump on the pro side here, but there are a lot of us "ordinary" Autopians who look closely at your posts, as it helps our own humble driveway detailing.

We appreciate it, many times over. It's what makes this forum so great.

And, it gives me an appriciation for the task at hand. Detailing done properly is a physically demanding job. I hold all you pros in respect.

To steal an old AC/DC line, "For those about to rock, we salute you!"

Moe

You helped me out too DJ so thanks for all the questions you have helped me with and also Tdekany and only meet Eric Howard (Howareb) once but he seems like a real down to earth guy. Hope the best for all in 2010.
