My thoughts on Poorboy's Mastercut

A while ago I was given a bottle of Poorboy's Mastercut to do a review on. I have been busy and had other things come up to where I just didn't get around to it either due to no time or I just forgot. I'm not good at reviews like Corey or some of the other review masters on this forum so just bare with me here. I don't have any pictures as I was working outside in a hot day.

Here is the product in discussion-
Poorboy's World Master Cut Super Cut Compound

Price-$19.99 for a 16 oz. bottle.

PBMC is a good compound. It is long working, cuts well, and finishes well. It doesn't cut as fast as M105, but let's face it, what other compound does? I was working outside in I would say 75-85 degree weather with mild humidity. The compound dusted like no other with a DA if my passes were fast. Jim(Dr. Oldz) gave me some advice to try making slower and smaller passes with it on a DA since it is made for a rotary. This helped a bunch with the dusting, but there was still a bunch of dust. When it comes to cleaning my pads, I am very OCD. I clean my pads on the fly way more than would be needed, but that's just me. After I got the dusting problem to a minimum, this product turned out to be a very nice compound to work with. It works great outside in the heat too. I have yet to try it on a rotary like it is made for, but for a DA, it works just fine. Thanks for reading this review.

Pros
-works great outside
-cuts and finishes very well using a DA
-long working time
-great price for the amount

Cons
-has pretty bad dusting

Great review Keith! I think you have pretty much the same feelings on this product that I do. I didnt have the dusting issues, but you should be able to use it some more and cut down on the dust

Keith, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I still believe you need to tweak your methods a bit as I find this compound to be very low if any dusting. I have been a fan of it since I tested a bottle for Meghan over at AG. I have actually purchased more and continue to use it!

I'll continue to tweak it for sure! I got it to dust very minimal, but perhaps it was because of the heat. IDK.

Nice review. I've found myself reaching for Master Cut more and more. In fact I'm almost out :( I use it with a rotary and find it to dust very little if any. The GG Da is just the opposite though so that could be the reason your experiencing it. It doesn't cut extreamly fast, but I think that's a good thing in many cases. All in all its a great product that definitely has a place in my arsenal.

Great review Keith. Master Cut is on product from Poorboys that I always wondered about that isn't talked about much.

Excellent review. There are a lot of different compounds/polishes out there that don't get talked about. Thanks.

Nice review Keith... I have had similar experiences to Dave & Jim though. When use with a Rotary I had almost no dusting and it seemed to work very well.

I been playing with it for awhile and agreed that it works very well and finishes too. The one part I had encounter that it doesn't cut as fast as M105 and the dusting problem. I talk to Steve and he mention that the pad should be prime with water to keep dusting down. So far it's a thumbs up for a compound in my book.

Thanks for the info! I'll give that a shot next time. It dusted terribly the first time I used it, but that was user error. :rofl

That's a great Tip for many compounds actually. I often spray a pad up with water then spin it dry on a fast rotary setting. The padwill retain enough moisture to help dusting while not adversely affecting the cut of the product.

Some of the Pinnacle Pad conditioner can be helpful too.

Great tip! :props:

I always do it with 105! So it should work out well for you with UC! Keep in mind that some products over dust because of over application and some are just impossible to stop 100%.

I always spritz my pads no matter what I'm using whether it be polish or a compound. Does two things helps spread the product on the pad so not so much is used to prime the pad and keeps down dusting.
