My take on Tropi-Care

Mmmph

Mad Detailer
I received my free sample kit last week and decided to try it out on my daughter's new, used Toreador Red 1998 Mercury Mountaineer. It was owned by a retired military man and only had 21,000 miles on it...Unfortunately. this vehicle had never been garaged. The paint was cloudy and swirled, but not really oxidized.

I've been working on the finish off and on for the a couple of weeks. I finally got the paint to the point where I was satisfied using LC pads, PII-FCRC and PIII-MG. The paint was as good as it gets

I had applied Wolfgang 4 weeks ago and have been very pleased. For me, it has really made paint care/protection a snap. This review must compare Tropi-Care with WG, as WG has rapidly become a favorite for its ease of use and end results.

I used the WG Pre-Wax Polish Enhancer in an effort to remove the WG sealant. I then Dawn washed (yecchh), like the Tropi-Care instructions stated. I applied TC with a damp applicator, allowed to dry for 20 minutes and buffed off. The car looked great.

The finish is slick and, initially, beading is tight.

This product applies and removes like MPPP. Use too much, even a little, and you have to wait, take time and occasionally apply a little muscle, as any excess will show up a few hours later as random white streaks that must be buffed off. This makes TC not as user friendly as Wolfgang.

The smell is cherry/fruity..I guess targeting people who like cherry/fruity smells. It's a fluorescent pink.....I guess targeting people who like pink stuff. I hope the bright pigment washes out of my MF towels. The coloring is unnecessary, and if my towels come clean, no prob.

I will try a second layer this week.

It does look good though...really good...but, hey, all these types of products...SG, WG, EX, EX-P all look good on a properly prepared surface. The difference, for me, is the economy in the use of means to an end.

Definitely a quality product, but it doesn't match match the effortlessness of WG.
