I fired up what I believe to be Ansi Auto's version to tackle this trashed 3 Series:

The rest of the car is worse !

My go-to 'sanding discs' for paint in this condition is : Eagle 193-1503 - 6 inch SUPER-TACK Tolex Discs - 25 discs/box - Sanding Discs - Amazon.com which is said to be +/- 2K grit but I think it finishes nicer. Sometimes I'll use the Buflex Black which is said to be 3K grit

Just a few passes with the 21MM, a Lake Country Blue RO pad and Megs M100. My first use of M100. //Edit - meant to say Lake Country HD Orbital //

I'm hooked on the combination; although it seems the Lake Country pad may not be holding up to the large throw. There's only the slightest of vibrations and since I wear ear protection, noise is not an issue for me, which really isn't much anyway. Just for grins, to check vibration I tried a Megs Red SoftBuf 7207 on it and a GG DA. The Griots had MUCH more vibration!

Well I'm not sure if it's really just the M100 or the combination, but if the Rupes has less vibration and truly is that much better than these Chinese versions, I just found the sweet spot. While the Flex 3401 has been my workhorse, there's no comparing the ease of use of the 21MM. It's well balanced for sure.

If the Ansi Auto version holds up, fine. If it doesn't fine. 'Cause the Rupes is going to be my next machine purchase.

More to come ...
