After seeing Slinky's project for like the third time i gave in and said what the hay

Hers my project car:

Bought it from my cousin about a month ago he said it was sitting in a shop for a while (like a month of two) but as it arrived it was very obvious it was definitely sitting somewhere outside under a lot of weather changes, their were literally bugs just sticking to the car some of them were still alive.:shocked  :furious: :angry

Really regret not taking more pictures for you guys to even understand how dirty this car was, the engine bay was full of rat poo every were.:hm

Here is Day 1 process:

DP 4in1 rinseless wash x2 (car is not running at this moment and i didn't feel like pushing) after this stage my girlfriend came outside and asked why didnt you wash it yet?

Wolfgang clay (dont really like it to tough to mold)

DP 4in1 rinseless wash, with Meg's gold class wash as clay lube.

Meg's gold class wash (ended pushing the car out and man did it make a difference).

The pics are after i washed it with DP.

After literally 1/4 of the hood.

By the time i was done with both cars it was dark and i had to summon up the strength to push it back in the garage, ended up having to ask the next door neighbor for help.:LOLOL

So tell me what you guy's think.

!!GOOD LUCK!! Looks like we're in the same boat, lots of fun, lots of work, but the satisfaction is great!

This is really funny because everyone keeps telling me I should wash my car also and I washed it twice already.

Tips for you: make a list of things you want to do/accomplish

Do exterior all at once and then move to interior, or vice versa, whichever you please.

I see you've already caught on to the remove everything that's removeable trick lol, take all of the screws and put them in individual zip lock bags and label them for each part.

After that remove the wheels, wash the car again, get those wheel wells good, make sure to have a brush and degreaser handy (be careful with some products not sure how strong they are on painted surfaces.

Have fun :getdown

p.s. once you get it running it makes things a lot easier for moving around etc. :D

i do have some what of a plan, get as many swirls out as possible i know it wont be easy nor perfect cause overall the car needs a paint over (not happening any time soon whatsoever) so ill do the best i can for now.

Right now i put a pause on the cleaning cause im trying to get it up and running i would say its 90% their so i defiently keep you guys posted on the details

Oh yeah i forgot to mention i have a little problem

What would be my remedy for this besides repainting the hole car. I thought about sanding it down then repainting it with some touch up ordered from my local body shop, i know i will not achieve perfection but like i said i will do the best i can(mainly because i want to do the majority of the work myself). Or i will just take it to them and see how much they would charge me.

You need to get rid of that body-rot before you paint over it. You could grind it down, bondo it, sand and then paint that one area, or go to pick-your-part and try to find another fender.

that thing needs a bath in something like simple green. I know it's potentially corrosive over time, but that car needs something harsh :)

Just a hint: I have detailed a lot of beat up white cars with algae and what works better then anything is "Pinkstuf All purpose cleaner". It can be bought at VIP auto parts, Car Quest, Robbins auto parts, speacialty car stores. It is gentle on the paint and will make that white car gleam. It will also clean engines better than anything and also clean rims and tires beter than anything. I have used almost every APC cleaner out there and Pinkstuf is truely amazing. The suds cling to the dirt and wash away. It just suds and suds and the finish it leaves behind is squeaky clean. I would never detail a dirty white car unless I used pinkstuf to wash first and decontaminate it. On every car I detail that has not been done in years, I will use this stuf to wash. Cars polish out much better and faster.

Thought it might help!

I have tried almost every brand out there and Pinkstuf is truely the best I have tried. It's super suds cling to dirt and get rid all the dirt. The only thing that can be annoying is that is does take a while to rinse the suds. It is very concetrated stuff straight out of the gallon. Works awesome on mud trucks! Has a LOT of lubrication in it also. Safe on the hands too. One try and you will be hooked! I have gone through 100's of gallons of this stuff and I could not live without it! It's that good! It's right around $11 at VIP for a gallon.

I am surprised no one uses this stuff on here.

sorry for the delay, i was working the car and finally got it up and running not 100% but it runs.
