My poor doggie :(

When I first started dating my fiancé back in H.S. she never had a dog. then one day while I was picking her up a chocolate lab just came out of no where and hopped in my car. We fell in love with her and her family kept her. Sweet Dutches was my fiancé first dog, who like to run away... After running away so much she came home pregnant. 12 puppies she had.....Dutches passed away last year of kidney failure b/c my fiancés mom is a loser. After giving away most, having the city of Mesquite lie which resulted in the loss of 2 of our poor dogs we moved. We were just left with one of her puppies(all grown up now).My dog was banned from Mesquite for killing a dog which they could never prove existed. Even though they claimed they took it to the vet, no records could be found.

ANYWAYS, we got over that and moved by the lake in another city. My dog's name is Rott. He's a rather big 120ish lb dog who has somewhat of a temper.
Here he is after pillaging the kitchen :)

Ok, maybe he tries to kill anything that isn't his family. I walk him with a muzzle, which has saved about 4 dogs lives since owners cant keep their dogs on a leash. Ironically he is the biggest baby when my friends come over b/c they are not scared of him. he just wines until they pet him. Since he is so mean we don't want to risk taking him to the vet. Hopefully if all goes well we wont have too.

So on 6-7 I noticed my dog had a sore between his toes on a back paw. My dog has bad skin allergies and also I think his body has too much yeast. Since this after research I presumed he had Interdigital pyoderma. Which isn't that bad, just takes a while to heal. Here is what his paw looked like then.

So I started giving him the antibiotics that was recommend 3 times a day. Cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and Neosporin before and after each walk. 3 days later it looked like this...

Over the week it really didn't go down, but wasn't getting any worse. Well last night I noticed the top of his paw now had a bump. When I pressed it infected stuff came out the cut in between his toes. So im thinking "Great, now it has gotten far worse" I drain his cut and clean it once again. Here is what it looked like when I noticed the bump

After cleaning it....

So this morning when I woke up and when to clean it I got a surprise.... There was something poking out the top bump. So I woke my fiancé up and we grabbed the medical supplies. With some tweezers I was able to pull THIS out of his paw :(

My poor dog must have got it in the field while I was walking him one day. Its one of those thorny grass seed things that always get stuck on your socks. Some how thru out this whole process my dog wasn't in the least bit of pain. He let me work on his paw every time and when I pulled that out he didn't even yelp or flinch. I can honestly say that if we didn't give him antibiotics this whole past week and clean it, well his wound would probably have been a lot more infected.

Im so glad we finally figured out what was wrong and didn't have to take him to the vet. So people if you don't use all your antibiotics when the doc gives you some. Save them, they might help your dog out down the road.

It pains me too when my dogs are sick or hurt. Glad you figured out what was wrong. Here's to a speedy recovery.

pets are family members and when we lose one, the pain of loss is just as real or worse than a human loss. glad you were able to get his foot problem straightened out. i do hope you are able to get him to a vet though. he'll still need his heartworm tests and vacinations to protect him and keep him healthy. :)

I knew the end of this story without even reading it. We've had a lot of pets get cheat grass in various parts of their bodies. Painful as it may be they typically cure themselves.

I'm glad to hear your dog is doing better. My puppies used to get those stuck in their paws almost daily from a field behind my old house. Needless to say, I'm glad we moved.

Thanks for all the kind of responses. We still buy his meds, just online. You are right about his shots though, my fiance really needs to get over her anxiety and let me take him for that. He did get them all growing up, but I'm sure he needs more probably.

That'scrazy, iI never would have thought grass could do that. I think I might look into some shoesfor him. Sounds funny to put shoes on him, but better safe than sorry.
