My New Toy!

Well after spending much time mastering the pC and getting 110% happy with it, I decided to move up onto the rotary polisher and learn to use that too.

Its arrived from Screwfix Direct today - my Makita 9227CB. :D

And with some of my new Menzerna products (Power Gloss, Intensive Polish 3.01, Intensive Polish PO91L, Final Finish) that'll be used on it soon...

And with a couple of Meguiars polishes I'll be testing out with it soon too...

A Meguiars backing plate is on order, along with a couple of Megs pads (W7006, W8006) to go with my growing collection of Megs pads that I've been buying especially for the rotary.

Now hunting out scrap panels, and possibly a cheap old car to play before using it properly in anger on anyone's car. Once I'm properly confident, and tested pads, panels and paints (differing types) to destruction on scrap panels, I'll update my Frappr map thing - but only once I'm 100% confident with the tool, and only after I've used it once on my own car (the acid test for how confident I am with it, if I believe I can use it on my cherished Astra, then I'm ready to bring it out!)

awsome tool, i was given my 9227 this past week by a good friend, mine doesnt look as new as yours but im sure we share the same smile when we look at em.

I used my Makita for the first time last week. You will be very happy with the tool, the results, and the efficiency! I wish I had gotten mine earlier! Let us know how it goes.

I think that's pretty much the best one money can buy...

I bought a cheapy PC 7428 because it's similar style to the Makita, but cheaper. I use a DeWalt at work.. it's a nice powerful machine but I hate the side handle. The Makita is very quite and you can set it down to 600RPM... :)

Yeah, you'll like it. Get some finishing pads too, it can be surprising what gentle approaches can accomplish via rotary.

nice polisher :2thumbs: I followed the same route as did you. After a while mastering the PC i kicked it up a notch and really tried to ruin my paint by getting a rotary. It was not as tough to use as I had read, relatively easy as a matter of fact but I did do lots of reading on this board. Now a days I rarely use my PC and opt for the rotary instead - faster and yields better results.
