I drove over 3 hours on Saturday morning to pick this 2005 Nissan Pathfinder up. Thanks again tropicsteve for checking it out for me before making the trip!
While the bike life has its merits, an SUV like this will be much more practical for me and will allow me to start detailing again. I`ve got plans to build the cargo area into a mobile detailing area with compartments for my steamer/pressure washer/extractor/tools etc.
The 3.2 hour drive back home was a good 1st test for this vehicle and it passed with flying colors.
The next morning, I noticed the front sections of the SUV were covered in bug remains.
Of course the dealership told me they had their best guy give it a full detail...but we all know how that goes. I told them that sounded swell and started to make a mental checklist of the products I would need when I got home.
It`s hard to see in this pic, but I used Optimum Ferrex on the entire hood. From the looks of it, someone with short arms clayed the front half of the hood but couldn`t reach to the top. Only half of the hood showed contamination. Literally a half-assed job.
I`m a fan of clean engines too and this one needed some love.
I`ll post more detailed pics later
The dealership I picked it up from glazed the interior with a shiny, smelly dressing that I wanted to remove asap. I couldn`t wait to get home to steam clean the interior panels. The smell alone was giving me a headache.
No surprise either that all of the trim needs a lot of work.
I finished the quick detail with a coat of Gyeon Wet Coat. It was too hot to try anything else.
On the bright side, I`m pretty sure I burned enough calories to make up for those cheesy tots and milkshake which will make room for round 2!
