so basically back on may 14th. my cousin (who has mental disabilities) found matches and decided to light a cardboard box on fire.

he couldnt put it out. so he decided to just watch tv. my aunt who thought she smell smoke cam downstairs, and asked him if he smelled smoke. he of course said no.

well the fire alarms go off. she opens the garage, and there it is. my garage ablaze.

it basically took out my moms van outside (thank god the audi wasnt in the garage) and it took out the garage. thankfully the house didnt get touched really.

my mom even upgraded to an insulated garage door. =) all so when im detailing im warm

yes there is still work that needs to be done btw. there is also 4 8" flourescent lights up top. which pretty much lights up the garage like the sun.

the floor is expoxied. it makes for quick cleanup. however its really slippery when wet.

the toolbox is brand new. it basically is holding my basic tool kit, and miscellaneous sockets and bits. (when we were living in the rental i need a toolset to take to my friends, so it worked perfectly. ill probably get a set to keep just at home though.

the top box holds my pads and applicators, while the middle is polishes and waxes.

Looks very nice. Did you do the floor yourself? What did you use?

That could have have been a lot worse. I'm glad your house and family was OK.

Wow. A silver lining to what could have been a real tragedy. Looks very nice. I have a similar and about half-full Craftsman tool box setup that is now going to get a thorough re-organization to keep my polishing / finishing supplies! Thanks for the inspiration. My seldom-used wood working tools will now be relegated to the Rubbermaid tub that I kept my auto stuff in!!

Dude, i'm happy no one was hurt and that is the most important thing. Now is the perfect time to build your garage the way YOU want it! Lookin good so far.

yeah you can imagine my surprise when i drove up the street from school.

i didnt do the floor myself. the company who is taking car of the repairs is doing all the work.

i really cant wait till its al done, and im able to work on my own car in there.

yeah the fire was a big hit to my family. it happened a week after i rolled my mazda6. but its working itself out. its a fresh start really. everything in the house is pretty much new...

That's pretty fortunate. That could have been so much worse in so many ways.

The new garage looks good. Get something on those walls before they start to absorb moisture. I've also heard of people adding sand to the epoxy while it is wet so it has some texture to prevent slipping.

Have fun with your new garage.
