My Lifted Silverado detail today

I'll tell you what...I love my truck to death but detailing a lifted truck is a major PITA. I can do my wifes BMW twice as fast as my truck. Anyone have any tips or tricks to do the hood and roof. They are hard to access. Currently I just use a ladder.

Anyways. I had today off of work so I decided I would detail my truck. I am working on removing the swirls one panel at a time just because I don't feel like devoting 12 hours in a single detail to do it. Today I did the front two fenders. So far I just have the hood and fenders done.

Today I washed with GoldClass, spot clayed around the bottom half (wide tires really throw that crap up on the truck), polished the two front fenders with 2.5, 1.0, AIO. I did the entire truck with AIO, then EX-P, then #16. I really love the EX-P...very easy to remove. Tires were done with Meguiars Endurance and all trim was done with Mothers Back-to-black. Sorry for the lack of Before pictures but I was just trying to get started. Hope you like the pics as I am very proud of my work today. It was funny, I was thinking about what type of pictures I would take for all of you while I was doing the detail.

So, How do most of you access the roofs or bonnets of big lifted trucks other than using step stools or folding ladders? Anyone have any tips or tricks.

Looks great! I really like the wheels.

I think the only way to do the hood/roof is just how you've been doing them. I had a toyota before my chevy and used a 2-step stool to do the top (plus it had a topper).

One way is to use a pit, so you can detail it like a car. Not sure how easily you can access one though.

i stand in the bed for the roof

and stand on the bumper and tires for doing the hood

maybe u can try that?

i have a 1997 ford f250 4x4 powerstroke

not to jack ur thread but how do you get the orange mud stain off your tires?

you have a sweet lookin truck though

Nice ride!

Have you ever looked into some clear turning signal bulbs?

Philips makes "Silvertstars" which have a silver coating but illuminate orange. Or, there are LED lights which do the same thing but are less expensive, and finally you can put a couple of light coats of high-temp silver paint over the stock bulbs.

It just keeps the housings from getting that orange glow you clearly tried to get rid of with the clear housings.

Just trying to help!:wavey

That is a badaZZ truck! I've wanted a truck like that since I can remember, I ended up getting a little sport truck instead, but I'd much rather be in a jacked up big boy like that. Sweet ride and very tasteful mods!

Looking Good!

I am not sure I know what you are talking about.

I have Silverstars in the high and low beams but I just haven't getten around to either painting the existing bulbs or picking up the turn signal Silverstars. The bulbs were a gift from my wife and she didn't know about the turn signals. Eventually I will replace them. Thanks

What kind of lift did you use?

It was a 6" RCD lift. It was all suspension. I thought about doing another 2 inches on the body but then it would not fit in my garage. I have about 1.5 inches of clearance right now so I didn't want to push it.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Of course it rained tonight so I got to see the amazing beading action on an AIO, EX-P, #16 combo. Much better than the AIO/#26 I was previously using.

i dont suppose that lift is functional besides looks then

anytime i go offroading the tires always seem to have an orange tint to them after washing even using a scrub brush what can i do to get that out and get them back to black?

You mean the mud you get in the treads? Since I don't have a power washer, I will usually take it to a doi it yourself place that has a sprayer I can use tolightly rinse off the mud off of the entire truck but then I just blast away at the tires. That will take care of most of the tint.

For the tint you get on the sidewalls after climbing through some rocks or such, I just usually have to scrub that stuff off.

It has been rainin like crazy for the last few weeks so that has actually helped to clean my tires up a little.
