My Jeep again...

Just did a quick was today, washed with meguiars nxt soap, and then I cleaned the rims and all by hand. Used simple green for cleaning the wheel wells and dressed them with armor all diluted 1:1. I used armor all tireshine, the foamy stuff on the tires which I tend to like. Nothing major though just a quick wash..

Also I bought some meguiars #6 I beileve because it was it would remove light swirls and they did not have meguiars #9 swirl remover. So I thought I would try it. The picture of the hood and the side fender is where I applied it by hand and worked it in and I think it did a fairly well job for doing it by hand since I dont have a pc yet.

Here are the pics, tell me what you think!!!

Feel free to comment/ask questions!!

I have to finish tomorrow and I need to wipe the rims down and finish applying the meguiars and a few other minor tasks. I just took a picture of the engine, I detailed it awhile back.

engine looks great bro, you definetly have a good regimine for keeping the engine bay clean because it is hard to get it looking that good on the first try.

How does the AA tire foam work? Does it turn brown in a few weeks? It seems like if you don't let the foam subside that it will sling onto the rockers. Have you noticed that or allow a long drying time? Did you top off the #6 or is it just bare paint? sorry for the questions, I'm just curious. Everything looks real good!

The AA tire foam has actually worked well for me. Most of the time I try to allow it a good drying time like right now it has time to try over night....however one time I did wash my car real fast and then I had to go into work so it didnt really get time to "soak" in or "dry" but I did get a little sling but not as much as you would expect. I hope that answers your question to an extent.

On the other hand, the only time it really turns brown is if it rains really hard and im out driving in the rain and all it tends to turn brown. However I tend to like it and ive tried many tire shines such as eagle one...etc. I like the way it applies its real easy and doesnt take as long as spraying it around the whole tire etc since the spray on the AA foam covers a large area. The only disadvantage to the AA foam spray covering a large area is if you have low pro tires, but for my tires its perfect.

Right now the #6 is only applied to certain areas of the car considering it was getting dark and im going to finish tomorrow, but I believe im going to top it with Meguiars Mirror Glaze #26 Paste....however in the near future when it gets warmer I really need to clay my car and buy a porter cable and basically do the whole 9 yards, but for now I mean the pictures dont really do justice. The paint looks real rich, numerous people commented me on it.

I appreciate you guys respones. Let me know if you have any advice or anything considering im 17 and kind of new to all this, however I do enjoy it :)

Budman--appreciate the response, let me know - I hope everything makes sense, I did not proofread.

Everything looks good to me. Thanks for the info. My old truck had large sidewalls that wasted a lot of tire shine, but I wanted to make sure that they were protected. It looks like the foam goes into the tiny spots in the tires aswell which is difficult with some tires shine I've used. Once you get the PC you won't believe how you did stuff by hand. The sooner you can get it the better. I would say you'll get better with time but you can't get too much better than the condition of the vehicle right now.

Definately appreciate the kind respones!!!

This is my first car of course and Ive always tried to keep my "items" I guess you could say in the best condition possible. Anyways and I mean I keep it clean for 1 because it looks good and for 2 I want it to last long and 3 beacuse I appreciate that my parents did buy me a nice car for my first vehicle.

On the other hand, I still have alot of stuff to learn about in w/ detailing, but you would be surprised how many neighbors/family/friends ask me to do there cars for them. Its funny because people at school today asked me what I was doing after school and I said getting lunch because I do not eat the nasty school lunch and I said washing my car. Well I can count probably 7 people that asked me to clean there car sometime soon not counting my neighbor that wants me to do his kia and his cadallac.

I'm going to have to hide the link for this site.

My wife has a grand cherokee and has been riding my butt to detail it. She sees that thing and she will REALLY get on me.

You certainly are off to a good start! Looks great!
FWIW, Meg's #6 is a cleaner/wax and as with most Meguiar's products, a pretty decent one. This link should show the bottle. It is not really very aggressive which is not all bad. The swirl removing capabilities of it would be rather limited, though. Maybe it will be all you will need.

What year is hers? Does she have the laredo or what?

They look really nice when they are all clean and stuff.

Also I used meguiars #6 on it last night, gave it a good shine I have to finish today and top it with #26 I believe that is what im going to do, but I do need meguiars #9 swirl remover.

Swirl Remover

You may need a swirl remover, but while Meguiar's #9 is a good one, it isn't the only one.
Just a suggestion. Get the Porter Cable random orbital polisher before you try the swirl removal. I did swirl removal by hand, (with #9), for years before I bought the PC. It was lots of work. I can't imagine doing it by hand again.

I can't imagine doing any real swirl removing with #9 by hand or machine. Maybe some minor cobweb. #9 is less aggressive than #80 and even it fills as much as it removes. Still if you are going with Megs products, I would definitely recommend #80 (Speed Glaze) over #9.

As a glossing polish, IMO the consumer DC Step 2 is a better choice than #9.

And as CharlesW suggested, save up for a RO polisher. That will not only be a large help in defect removal, but will open up many more product choices.
