My Impression of Trade Secrets

Well I was told you couldn’t tell the difference between Souveran and Trade Secrets and normally challenges like that I just ignore since it seems like they just cost me money and unwanted products. After checking out the website and finding this statement I decided to give it a try.

This remarkable carnauba wax may be layered for optimal effect and durability. Show vehicles are commonly layered with 15 to 20 coats, with each layer deepening the color. You'll never use another wax on black vehicles. Trade Secret carnauba wax will not streak or leave white residue. It will so transform your waxing process, you will look forward to applying it! Black and other dark colors will never again be a problem. Trade Secret's white carnauba literally deepens a vehicle's color with each layer.

First I did an IPA wipe down of one fender on my black 39 ford and applied Trade Secrets X2 to the fender. What my eye detected was increase in shine/gloss, Natty Blue depth but loss of that Souverian glow. Since I recently detailed my 39 and Good Guys car show is only a couple of weeks away I didn’t want to change LSP.

My 35 Ford needed a light polishing so I pulled out the XMT-1 and did a quick polishing to get rid of some small swirls that were induced by using QD at car shows. I put on three coats of Trade Secrets over the entire car allowing 24 hours between coats for cure time. I can say that after the first coat I was a little disappointed with the results I felt that is was lacked the depth and wetness of both Natty Blue and Souveran but had the shine of a lot of the sealants. The second coat seem to added the much need wetness and depth and it was very apparent where there was only one coat and where there were two coats of wax. With NB or Souveran I can see a difference in the second coat but nothing as dramatic as Trade Secrets. The third coat didn’t yield a dramatic difference but there was a slight difference. Since then I have added 4 more to bring the total to seven just the hood and I have not seen any increase what so ever. I going to continue to put coats on just half the hood for a total of about 12 on one side and leave the original three on the other side and see if I can see a difference between the two. Of coarse a thread like this is worthless without pictures..

Trade Secrets will not be knocking my Souveran off the top shelf for black but I will be sitting on the second shelf next to Natty Blue.

looks pretty darn good to me!! I love the wetness and also like the orange tones in the paint. When the car was painted was there yellow used by chance?

Looks Great!

Looks good to me, but obviously without seeing it with Souveran or NB I can't see the differences you see-but regardless, the car looks great!

Looks great Dennis but I still prefer Souveran overall for a carnauba. In my experience Souveran gets wetter on the second layer as well but I believe since the first layer adds most of the wetness, you also benefit from increased optical clarity of fewer layers.

[Insert usual compliments regarding DennisH's hot rods here :bow ]

So what was the final verdict- is TS your new favorite? I never got quite the same look with it that I get with Souveran so I went back to the latter.

Well Accumulator this is just the way my eye sees it!! On black I still think that PRO85RD/RMG/PS rules and haven’t found anything I like better either in the wax or sealants. On my Mini Cooper which is a darker red RMG/PS combo is the best combo I have found for looks, but I have been using up the last of my Zaino for it durability and will probably continue to use sealants. The 35 Ford pictured is a lighter red with lots of orange with a single stage paint and RMG/PS doesn’t seem to do much for it, seems that RMG and Natty Blue is a great combo and Trade Secrets isn’t bad either. PS is still my on the top shelf!!

Over all I agree I like use Souveran but as the colors get lighter I think that PS looses some of the "Souveran Glow" that it's so famous for! Also, I think as colors become lighter it gets easier to sealants and other wax to duplicate the PS look. Just my thoughts!

well with single stage paint products with more oils should look better. PS probably has more oil/carnauba content than most other synthetic/carnauba blends.

Dark cars (black and maroon red) no sealant for me in the summer (at least not as a final topper). Tried TS in the past and it is great, but, agree that PS is better. I am actually get the best results (in no order) with PS, victoria wax red, zymol concours and just got some CG connessiur wax (very excited, let see how that goes :2thumbs: ).

I see you like EX -- just go mine today along with OP. Any tips using it with RMG or Souverian? I have been hearing a lot about Victoria Wax so maybe that will be next.

I agree Dennis which is why I went to Z-2Pro and picked up some clarity as well. :)

I have a light silver Avaitor and I like both Z2Pro and Rejex on it. I have been using Rejex on rims and have been really happy with it.

Hehehe, yeah I have not updated my signiture due to (1) trying so many different combos and (2) lazy :o . I am near the end of my stock of the pre-voc AIO and my EX, and will be replacing AIO with JW Prime or DP Prima lines. I still love EX but may try others, only because I have them (Prima, WG, AJ, and tons of CGuys stuff). Durability topic aside, imo I never had durability problem with using EX over AIO and and then topped by souveran, EX is one of the easiest to use. It bonds with every carnauba I have tried, and I truely think the benefit of this being a carnauba based sealant helps in the depth department. I would allow 24-48 hours curing before topping it with souveran (no scientific reason, just being careful). Make sure you qd the car before you lay the souveran. Souveran is very easy to use, WOWO either with the provided foam applicator or by hand. Wait 24hrs and can layer again if so desired (I sometimes thinks this deepens the color and sometimes not - layering beyond two times may/maynot improve the look that is another thread). Other than that nothing special, just have fun. I have not tried RMG, but do not see a problem as EX is canub based.

You will love the Victoria line, order the starter kit as you will get a great kit with ample waxes ect. Not, IMO the victoria waxes really darken the color of your vehicle while deepening it (my red really got red and deep :2thumbs: ), but I think that souveran was a little glossier. Also, I recently got Zymol Concours, Zymol Ital and Chemical Guys 5050 connessieur wax (these I have only pannel checked so far, but WOW, they are definitly going to be fighting for the top spots on my cars :getdown ).
