This is my best friends new 99 toyota 4runner. It was done out of the good of my heart, and being teh kind gentle soul that i am =P

So this is when he brought it in the morning. It was still foggy out thankfully when we washed it.

The car was "detailed" by the dealership. This included complimentary dried wax in every trim and crevice on the vehicle... Not to mention the wax that wasnt wiped off in the door jambs..

The picture above is the wax from the dealership beading. It didnt sheet at all, but at least there was some protection...

Wash Process:

TW ice

2 grout sponges

2 bucket method

Wheels were still relatively clean, so they just got washed with leftover washwater, and a couple of brushes

The car was then clayed with ONR lube, and clayed with Megs Clay

nice ONR beads. ONR works great as a clay lube, has just enough slickness, super easy to make, and not to mention is cheap to make.

The horizontal panels needed to be clayed pretty badly, and the roof was in terrible condition too. but the side panels werent to bad

Now onto the polishing

The car overall wasnt in the best condition... but there was still a ton of swirls, and many deeper RIDS

Ive found that it is hard to capture the defects on this color. This is the second toyota ive done of this color, and i cant seem to get a picture of the damage like i can with dark blue or black...

So I had to decide what my proces was going to be. I originally thought that a single pass of Megs 83 would be sufficient enough to remove a decent amount of swirls. It turns out that the paint was harder than i thought, and Megs 83 barely made a dent. So i went with Menz PG on orange, and followed with FP on white

here you can see the results. On the left of the tape line is what megs 83 did. Then the untouched tape line in the center, and Megs PG followed with FP on white. I did pull it out of teh garage to check for holograms, and sure enough there were holograms after PG, and following witha fine polish is a must

polishing the hood with FP

After polishing half of the hood, we pulled it out again to check the results and take some 50/50s

as you can see there is some defects left, but it was significantly improved for the process i was using.

after

I kind of stopped taking before and afters after this, I realized how much time i was taking up stopping and taking pictures so i polished the rest of the car with teh same process.

The car was washed again to remove the dusting, and there was alot of it too. It was just one of those days where menzerna loves to dust up.

My choice of wax was Pinnacle SigII. It really added nice gloss and wetness to the paint, and i love the slickness it leaves
