Didn't turn out all that well, was rushed and realized afterwards that I was using a TOUCH UP hvlp with a 1.0mm tip! Arg! Oh well, at least my bumper is red. Now to get rid of the rest of this orange peel... Did some light wetsanding on some spots earlier and polished with HTEC, and OP.

You posted no befores, but that bumper looks pretty good in the last photo. I have this job awaiting me, if I ever get around to it. I have a Devilbiss Finish Line HVLP gun, and non-factory two stage paint. I will need a color match and will try Sikkens, I think. Or I'll leave it go 'til next year.



Gonna try your hood next?

Looks very good! How was the level of OP on the hood? Are you able to wetsand out the front bumper to reduce the OP?
 
Used a bigger HVLP with a 1.3mm tip this time. I didn't bother sanding the bumper, its not noticable from more than a few feet away, but the hood has some orange peel, ill see what I can do and post pics after.
 
:P why wetsand it? Honda paint from the factory has quite a bit of orange peel. Now it just looks factory! :xyxthumbs
 
I used Nason single stage acrylic enamel (cheap Dupont) and sprayed it like any other paint. Thanks to my discount at work, the paint only cost me $20 for a quart, and I only used 1/4-1/2 on the hood. Everything other than that was the usual for painting and wetsanding etc.
 
Yeah, single stage paint is thicker than bc/cc so you would definately need a bigger tip. I'm guessing the bumper was paint ss as well? It looks like the gun wasn't able to put enough paint out on the surface for it to flow correctly. Hood looks really good though :) A 1.0mm is good for touchups but not for overall. I use a 1.3 with my SATA for bc/cc which it works good with ss as well but I have a Develbiss Finishline that I use for primer and heavy ss.
