My First Detail

Well, I finally optimized the photo of my 98 Montero so I could post it on Autopia. Here's what I did:

wash w/Dawn

cleaned paint using Griot's clay (Speed Shine lube ) and PC

removed swirl marks w/Griot's Machine polish 3

waxed w/Griots Best of Show carnauba and PC

removed the polish w/Griot's orange MF towel -- it was a bear to remove, even though I didn't let the polish dry

removed the wax w/Griot's white MF towel -- much easier to remove than the polish

dried using "the Absorber" -- need to work on some of the drying techniques I've found on Autopia

All in all, I'm pretty happy w/the results. It took me way too long to do everything, but it was my first time.

Thanks to everyone for the tips I've found here. I've definitely learned alot!

Very nice!! Step 2, un-clutch the Griot's catalog and go find better products!! (not saying griots stuff is bad, by any means its better than the auto zone stock, but there is better out there by far!) :up

and less expensive!

...since Autopia, I've discovered that there are many alternatives. Once my stock of Griot's is depleted, I'll try some of the other products raved about here.
