My Favorite ONR Mitt

Well after trying several types of mitts (Lambswool, cotton,MF, imitation wool) I think I have found my favorite when it comes to using No Rinse. I just found these at Costco this week for $10.99. There are three in a pack and it comes with two large MF drying towels. (I'll probably relegate them to another task as I prefer the WW-MF for drying)

I have had other versions of these mitts, but these from Costco really seem to hold a LOT of cleaning solution and are very very soft! I highly recommend them.

 Hmmm! Have you inspected your paint under the halogens during or after ONR and done a CD test? They look as if they could cause a few swirls. Do you know their blend?

i bought a set of these last year from Costco, but last's year package only came with 1 big drying towel instead of 2. I ended up returning them. I wash my mf mitts in the washing machine and with these mitts, there's a cotton lining on the inside of the mitt that comes undone and becomes a mess. Also, the mitt holds way too much solution so they become pretty heavy when you drag it across your paint. And last but not least, i did not like how they rinse at all. I found the usual microfiber mitts to rinse cleaner than these.

The one thing I did like was the nice big size of the drying towel, although I didn't get to test it thorougly enough to see if it would marr my paint.

I like chenille with ONR, mitt or pad. I have a wash pad that looks exactly like those mitts, and it's ok, but wouldn't use it with ONR, needs alot of water to feel safe.

I prefer using a simple MF when ONRing my car. I think ONR is easier to use with an MF as opposed to a mitt.

Ditto, I use about 5-10 plain jane Cobra mp MF towels. Just keep switching the 1/4's you use...so each towel has 8 sides. Hard to beat that. :secret

I seen the exact same ones in BJ's wholesale club, and felt a little rough... but hey! If it works for you go for it.

The GS with ONR is great.. but a little more scrubbing is required on the windows and headlights to get rid of all the bugs since i left some of the bug residue yesterday during drying session.

After trying MF towels, the "mitt" in first post, sheepskin mitt, and Grout Sponge....I can safely say that I will only use the GS from now on. That mitt pictured in the first post works great for wheels and that's what I use mine for. It does a good job of getting into the little crevices on my rims.

Haven't used a halogen yet, but to my eye, they don't cause any more swirling than any other method. I do tend to use a 2 bucket ONR system so that may help as well.

BlackElantraGT i bought a set of these last year from Costco, but last's year package only came with 1 big drying towel instead of 2. I ended up returning them. See BlackElantraGT thats why I do like them, because they hold so much solution. But I must admit, I haven't tried the what some others are saying about using a thick microfiber towel folded in quarters, I've only used various configurations of MF mitts. I am always open to trying new ideas specially from my friends here at Autopia who are as nuts about cars as me!! Also, I had a mitt like this from WallyWorld and yes, it's guts fell apart after about 3 washings!

If you prefer this style mf mitt, Wally World carries the same kind except lined with a plastic lining for $5 each. I can't say for sure if it would hold up any better, but from the looks/feel of it I think it can withstand more washings than the cotton-lined one. But, I have a feeling it might not hold as much solution as this mitt. For me, I didn't like the heavy drag feeling it gave me because I felt like I was applying too much pressure just to wash.

I haven't used any of my mitts since I switched to grout sponges. For me it's much cheaper and less of a hassle having to switch to a new mitt and throwing them in the washing machine. We all have our preferences :)

For $11, you're getting quite a bit for your money though. I know last season this seem to do fairly well on Costco's shelves (compared to other items within the same dept.) so I'm not surprised they brought it out again. It's an even better value this time since you're getting an extra drying towel.
