My employer is going MF

The janitorial department, also know as environmental services, is doing a trial run on MF towels. We have 4000 employees working here so when they change over to the MF towels from the standard janitoral materials, this place will be swimming in MF towels. Apparently there are MF for chrome, as well as for mops. They will be saving on chemicals because as we all know you don't need chemicals when you dust or clean windows. The blend so far is 80/20 and 70/30. Interestingly the 70/30 that they are doing the trial run on feels thiner than the ones I use for my vehicles. Maybe our home MF get fluffed up somewhat after washings, I don't know. I asked what the price will be, and he said they will be purchasing them for about $1.20 apiece. The size I think, because I didn't measure, looks to be about 16 x 16.

I have a feeling prices in general will come down in the retail arena because more institutions will be switching over to MF.:up

My parents, who live in Asia (South Korea) tell me that MF towels used for common household duties (mops, dish rags, etc) are quickly becoming the standard. They're extremely cheap over there and I've asked them to send me a bunch of the various different kinds.

Don't be concerned about "thin" vs. "plush". My experience says it isn't a good indicator of performance. I've had both lousy and good MF's in both camps.

I just got (FINALLY) a shipment of the new Meguiar's Ultimate Wipes - evidently improved over version 1 - from a different supplier. They are still white with a black edge (which I like - the white is the best for seeing contaminants you've picked up.) The only difference I can see is that the corners are rounded. This eliminates "corners" in the edge seaming which have excess thread that MIGHT cause scratching if you let it. The napp is the same and they pass the CD test with flying colors.

Yes, I think softness is more important than plushness...

Are the new Meguiar's towels still 80/20 or 70/30?

I didn't know that there are MF towels for chrome, not that I have very much of that, but it might be nice to have a few around, for the occasional chrome touch-ups.

The latest on the MF is, I just got off the phone with the distributor and he is putting together packages for new MB. So every new MB will have MF. He is also doing a package for COSTCO, but basically home use stuff-mopps. The towels he is selling, 16x16 70/30 or 80/20 will be $1.80 and the waffel weave will be $2.25 in 16 x 25 size. Different colours, gray, green, yellow and perhaps some others, I don't know. But thats the latest, and I wouldn't be surprised to see MFin nearly all high end vehicles in the near future.:up
