I just finished QD'ing some of my truck with Meguiars Quick Detailer. I did the tailgate and stepped back and though, "Ohhh F*** Where did those swirl marks come from!" I then touched one and noticed they smeared! I then wiped the tailgate in a different direction with the towel and the marks moved. Now I have these marks on my tailgate. I have tried switching to a clean towel and still can't get that stuff off. How do you get that oil off? IS there any QD that doesn't do this?
 
the tailgate is smooth shiny and hard correct?



this would be similar to trying to QD on glass, very smeary streaky



what might be a good solution would be diluted AIO or SG (to add some non-greasy acrylic shine



i haven't tried out enough QD's to determine if there is one that doesn't streak so much on shiny smooth objects
 
Try respraying and wiping then buff again. but do smaller areas so it does not dry.



Today it is warm dry and sunny so I bet the stuff dried on ya.



Try the EF CP or maybe even the Meguair's FI. Or go highend and get you some Sonus Acrylic or Z QD.
 
Does Eagle One Wet Quick detailer contain any carnauba? I haven't tried it for fear it does. Don't want to put any carnauba on my truck until I'm done with Klasse.
 
My guess is:



1) You're using way too much QD. You only need a FINE mist.



2) You're buffing out with terry or something else that is NOT micro-fiber.



Repeat after me: "Micro-fiber is my mantra. Micro-fiber is my mantra. Micro-fiber is my mantra."



Seriously - it makes a HUGE difference.



P.S. - I use Meguiar's Final Inspection because it is available by the gallon - but I think it is very similar to Quik Detailer. But I DID have this problem on the black car when i started with it - MF was the instantaneous solution.
 
This almost sounds like the mysterious klasse haze :eek: . The topic died because bigboyhf ditched klasse on the bimmer :mad: (even though the SG souveran combo looked better) and Intermezzo also ditched klasse. You do have klasse on the car correct?
 
If you have Klasse on your car, then I'd agree with AlBoston. It could very well be the 'Klasse Haze'.



As for E1 Wet Wipe N'Shine, it does not contain any carnauba, but it does contain silicone.

[/b]</blockquote>I had the same concern with regard to EF Clear Pearl, but Brad and the other 'gurus' were of the opinion that the amount carnauba in any QD was not sufficient to affect the bonding of the Klasse SG
 
Many users swear by them and they are very popular, but to tell you the truth, I prefer cotton for quick detailing. They don't grab the paint as much for starters and also don't absorb up all of the product QD'er you are putting on the car. MF towels seem to suck it up before it gets rubbed across the panel wasting product in my opinion.



I have used cotton towels for QD'ing for years with no problems....turn frequently though........
 
Dont forget that Meguiar's QD (not the FI) contains silicone which can very well be responsible for smearing! I noticed this problem after trying to use QD on the car after a coat of NuFinish.
 
Yes, I'm using clean towels.



I have MF towels but don't like using them for QD'ing. I only use them for wax removal.



Yhea, parts of my truck are Klassed. Tailgate, Bedcover, both side panels for the bed and half the hood. It is not the Klasse Haze. I have the Klasse haze on my bedcover. It is a very fine hazing. These were big and they weren't there before I applied the QD.



Yes, they swirls came off after I washed. I have meguiars #34. I'll try that next time I QD. I just don't ever QD. I wash my truck twice a week so there is really no need. Even if I QD daily, I'd still wash it twice a week. I like the wash :P
 
I get that all the time from the meg's maroon bottle QD........ never will use the stuff again. FI does not seem to do this. The stuff is harder than hell to get off...... I ended up having to clay it..... :rolleyes: :mad:
 
High quality microfiber towels or Charismas are all that I use for quick detailing. However, as most of you know, I tend to prefer CMAs Magic Towels and Steve's towels. Those towels are excellent. Laters
 
I've been told more than once that the Meguiar's consumer line of products in the maroon bottles contain silicone while the Mirror Glaze product line does not.



I had a similar problem on my black Corvette and switched to FI without the problem recurring.
 
Hi All,

New here and this is my first post - an early morning shot of my daily driver. I always drive SUVs because I do photography and need the space and all wheel drive.

No before and afters because it has always looked like this :). I've had it since last October and I do quick details on it every week that are finished off with a Carnuba quick detailer. I originally sealed it with Klasse AIO and Klasse High Gloss Sealant, followed a week later with a Carnuba paste wax. That said this is one of the worst paint jobs of any car that I've ever leased. The orange peel is bad :(. On the other hand, for an SUV it corners like on rails, it's very fast and I love the way it drives.

Welcome to TID Jose. The X5 is a beautiful SUV. One of my favorites (of course, I am partial to BMW's). Unfortunately most dark colored cars come from the factory with orange peel, and if it is a daily driver, I wouldn't get to obsessed with it. Your photo skills look top notch, and I look forward to seeing more from you.:Dancing Dot:
